Create Conditional Logic in Slack Workflows Using Slack Lists Thanks to Kevin Rosario who uncovered this technique and helped me see its value, Slack users can now implement conditional logic in their workflows with this very simple technique. Watch the video to learn more! Instructions: 1. Create a new list to track the conditions. A) Create a dropdown field to track your options on which your conditions will fire. B) Remember the options to use in Step 2A. 2. Create a workflow. A) launch a form step - with a dropdown question. Include your conditional choices from Step 1A. B) Add a list item step - leave the condition field blank. C) Update the list item and add the response from your form using variables. D)Publish the workflow. 3. Create a workflow for each condition that triggers when a list item is updated to the condition you want the workflow to fire on. A) set it to the workflow tracking list from Step 1 B) Select the field from Step 1A C) Select the option it should change to from Step 1A D) Add any steps you want to fire when they select that option. Did you know this? 😅 Slack The name is an acronym for "Searchable Log of All Conversation and Knowledge" Slack originated as an internal communication tool used within Stewart Butterfield's company, Tiny Speck, during their work on the development of Glitch, an online video game. While developing Glitch, the team relied on Internet Relay Chat (IRC) for communication (popular in the 80s and 90s). However, IRC's limitations in tracking past conversations spurred them to create their own tool, which evolved based on their growing needs. Glitch couldn't attract enough players to be profitable and was shut down in 2012. Yet, from this setback emerged an unexpected success. In early 2013, after six months of refining their internal tool, they introduced it to the world as Slack. Friends and colleagues loved it, and the rest is history.
