I have spoken with hundreds of lawyers this year who were unhappy in their careers and lives. Many are unfortunately waiting for a magical moment in their career when all the hard work they have done for others pays off. A promotion (usually in title only with a minor bump in salary). A salary increase (always with strings attached to higher billable hour expectations). A brand new role at a new firm.
