💙 Thank you to the Caring Foundation of Texas and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas for organizing an exceptional event this past Sunday. All proceeds from the event were directed towards funding life-saving preventive healthcare initiatives provided by CFT. I would also like to express my gratitude to my BCBSTX colleague and friend, Miss Lorrie Lacko, for inviting me to be a part of this meaningful occasion and for facilitating my involvement with this remarkable foundation. Numerous families throughout Texas encounter obstacles in accessing the preventive healthcare they require. These challenges often include financial constraints, transportation issues, and lack of time. Women and children are disproportionately affected by these barriers. The Caring Foundation of Texas addresses these challenges by collaborating with organizations, educational institutions, non-profits, and government entities to bring medical services directly into communities where they are needed most. This initiative enables many adults and children to obtain essential preventive care necessary for leading healthy, fulfilling lives. Preventive healthcare is vital for laying a strong health foundation for our children's futures. Last week marked an important milestone for HBA Support as we submitted our response to the Government’s NHS 10 Year Plan Consultation. This is significant step for our charity. Our response is robust and clearly identifies the policy issues facing our community through highlighting care gaps, critical research needs, as well as shining a light on own data driven arguments for better care, powered by our own research and analysis. This is a first for us and we’re pleased with our response to this major Government consultation.  We're advocating for more research and crucial changes to improve and personalise care for families affected by hereditary brain aneurysms. No Government has done this before and we’re calling on this one to show leadership and provide better care and support world-leading research. It’s an important opportunity to raise awareness drive much-needed change. We’re looking forward to continuing this conversation with the Government and NHS colleagues. The importance and role that primary care physicians play in public health and the communities they serve cannot be overstated. This thought summarizes what we should all endeavor for in #healthcare: “Collectively, we are all better served by taking better care of those charged with taking care of us.” Those in my orbit know I believe the best way we can help doctors is to empower them to focus more of their time and energy on caring for patients. As part of our commitment to expand access to quality health care, Helmsley has granted $11.6 million to three health systems in Nevada, bringing life-saving #ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) technology for patients in rural communities suffering from acute cardiac and pulmonary failure. The availability of ECMO provides timely medical support to those experiencing severe respiratory and cardiovascular distress who face additional challenges around physician shortages, lack of equipment, and geographic barriers to emergency treatment. The grants will go to Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Siena Hospital, Renown Health Foundation, and University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC), funding physician and staff travel to active extracorporeal life support centers, training equipment, consultation services, and other tools for program expansion across the state. “ECMO can be a game changer for patients with severe heart and lung conditions,” said Walter Panzirer, a Helmsley Trustee. “Without ECMO, hospitals have to transfer patients to other facilities, and those who are too unstable for transport could die before receiving needed care.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dSBcE5Eb

The Juniper Community Care Hub is an innovative way to help older adults and family caregivers in Minnesota receive the services that they need by providing an influx of resources and other support. It uses a framework that is central to how the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Administration for Community Living think about integrating healthcare and social care. According to Simonson: “Minnesota is uniquely positioned to move the hub model to a scale that will have a real impact on the state budget. Ever thought about how much simpler life would be without stacks of paperwork? Nonprofit hospitals are supposed to help low-income patients avoid debt, but the application process is a mess. Imagine if the IRS stepped in to streamline income verification and informed patients they won't get a bill right at the point of care. We could even cancel existing debt in a way that supports hospitals and improves health outcomes. Wouldn't that be a game-changer?
