One of the side effects of the perennial effort by large sectors of the language industry to treat language as a technological or economic phenomenon instead of the deeply human and organic phenomenon that it is, is that it becomes unable to engage with the vital sociolinguistic questions that emerge from its endeavors. Language communities are not markets, languages don’t become important only when their speakers become able to afford your product. Any system that views language communities as profit opportunities first and people second (if at all) is a fundamentally flawed system.

Understanding the differences in how we develop terminology in cultural spaces is critical in how we share information. Terminlogy that appears similar at first glance may encapsulate different meanings, which may change as time goes on. As language and culture develop, so do the linguistic expressions with nuances and contexts born from a desire to share, inform and express over time. How have you been impacted by linguistic cultural evolution?

Idioms are fascinating linguistic tools that add color, beauty, and depth to our conversations. They are expressions whose meanings are not deducible from the literal definitions of the words they contain. Instead, they convey figurative and eloquent meanings that often reflect cultural and historical contexts. The eloquent function of idioms lies in their ability to enhance communication, convey complex ideas, show cultural awareness, and enrich language proficiency.
