WORLD MENOPAUSE MONTH So much achieved, so far to go We’re marking World Menopause Month by celebrating the changemakers who have driven the revolution towards a more open, positive and productive conversation for people who experience menopause. Over the last year, HELLO! has continued to proudly partner with Wellbeing of Women in driving awareness and uptake of the Menopause Workplace Pledge, which has seen over 3,000 brands signing up to a better way of working with women in midlife. Recently, we celebrated this landmark moment with our Changemakers Breakfast panel, platforming some of the voices who have driven significant and meaningful change, attended by a host of celebrities, brands and menopause activists. HELLO! will continue to celebrate changemaking voices in the space and, this October, we were delighted to recognise the work of: Chair of Menopause Mandate Mariella Frostrup, Wellbeing of Women's Janet Lindsay, Marks & Spencer's Corporate Affairs Director Victoria McKenzie Gould, Lifestyle Coach and former Olympic Triple Jumper Michelle Griffith Robinson, and menopause action trailblazer Davina McCall. Additionally, we are delighted to work with brands delivering their own change programmes. Huge thanks to changemakers John Frieda and Hada Labo for their on-going commitment to women in their second act. https://lnkd.in/exzGArGE

Just as a symphony lacks harmony without every instrument, our workplace lacks completeness without supporting every stage of our team's life journey. That’s why I am proud to share Boehringer Ingelheim UK and Ireland's commitment to this harmony by signing the Menopause Workplace Pledge by the Wellbeing of Women. A 2023 study instigated by the CIPD[1] highlighted that nearly 1 in 5 women consider leaving work when they go through the peri-menopause or menopause. We are committed to create a workplace where no woman feels compelled to step back from her career due to menopause, one where every woman feels supported, understood, and valued, irrespective of her personal journey. Supporting menopause is not new to us as an organisation – we launched a robust policy some years ago, and we have offered training to managers and employees alike, but we continue to strive to improve and seek opportunities that deepen our sense of inclusion for all our colleagues. By signing this pledge, we're not just making a statement, we're sparking a conversation about menopause in our workplace. Today, my colleagues Jo Hammett and Helen Norris led a relaxed and open conversation about the next steps we can implement to ensure every woman navigating through menopause continues to thrive at work, and at home. I want to express my gratitude to Jo and Helen for their passionate leadership in this initiative. But this is just the beginning. Menopause has been a historically taboo conversation, but we're taking the first step to break that silence. This initiative is yet another pillar of inclusion that we need to get right. So, let's keep the conversation going. Let's challenge the status quo. Let's create a workplace that truly resonates with everyone's unique tune. Today is World Menopause Day I can virtually hear some eye rolling now… 🙄 Over the last few years, we have finally started talking about this and you may well think that we talk about it too much. But we don't. We have just not talked about it at all beforehand. Which really is odd! 🚺 Women make up about 50% of the world's population with around 5.1 million women in the UK alone aged between 45 and 55 years, so are likely to experience the menopausal changes in their bodies (Source: ONS population estimates for mid-2019). 💪 So, there’s a lot of us and we hold exciting and responsible positions in society and businesses. 😍 In the UK, a lot is being done to make things better for women during this season in the workplaces. According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development CIPD, over 600 employers have signed up to the Wellbeing of Women’s Menopause Workplace Pledge in the past 6 months alone! 📢 So let's talk MORE about the menopause. 🎯 If you are interested in supporting this (and this is not just for women 'of a certain age'!), why not propose to your employer to sign up for this pledge? There is a fabulous toolkit of resources ready - made so nobody needs to re-invent the wheel! 👉 If you’d like to work out how to use these resources to inform, encourage and empower your leadership team(s) to talk about menopause, work with their teams to identify support that is wanted and develop practical things that will make a difference, I am very happy to talk to you how I might help you facilitate this.
