Ben Hunt believes that nature knows what it's doing, having sustained life on Earth for millions of years without human interference. Grasses have been around for about 50 million years. Ruminants like bison, deer and elk have thrived alongside them. The aurochs, ancestor to modern cattle, is another example of nature's success.
Ben points out that despite the slow pace, nature tends to get things right—everything works in harmony and nothing is wasted.
In contrast, he argues that humans, despite being the most intelligent species, often fail when trying to "improve" on nature.
While there are a few areas where human intervention has been successful, like medical advances in heart surgery, the majority of our attempts, including in farming, pharmaceuticals, and food production, fall short.
Ben criticises humanity for being "intelligent enough to make its own food and dumb enough to eat it." He suggests that our reliance on man-made food has led to a decline in health, with most of the population either sick or on the verge of becoming so.
In his view, our disconnect from natural ways of living is making us sicker, highlighting the consequences of ignoring nature’s wisdom.
