On Monday, the company announced a Series C funding round of $200 million, vaulting it to unicorn status with a valuation of $1 billion, Altana exclusively told Forbes. The round is led by the U.S. Innovative Technology Fund, the defense-focused venture firm established by Thomas Tull, the tech investor and founder of the Hollywood studio Legendary Entertainment. Other newcomers include Al Gore’s Generation Investment Management, March Capital and Salesforce Ventures, while returning firms include GV (formerly Google Ventures) and Activate Capital.
