"Employees today view themselves as consumers of workplace experiences, seeking empowerment to make their own choices." In this world, mentoring is more valuable than ever, a personalised one-to-one guide to the next steps through the organisation. However, some programmes fail, either due to a lack of awareness or the sense that they are part of a one-size-fits-all, top-down directive. When prospective mentors and mentees are presented with the option of selecting a programme, take-up is better. Our MD Mark John has valued the experience of mentoring externally through Women in Banking and Finance - UK https://lnkd.in/eJibJ-Ek #mentoring #mentor #careerdevelopment #leadership

I’ll be heading to London later this week ahead of International Women’s Day to deliver a keynote speech to a sell out audience on mentoring. Mentoring has evolved so much in modern times. Traditionally someone older, more experienced, showing someone more junior and less experienced the ropes. I am wondering how many reading this remember having a mentor way, way back in the day ? I didn’t think I ever had one myself in those early days but when I really thought about the big companies I worked for when I started out - there WAS just that person. It was referred to as “sitting by nelly” back then. Today in my professional career as a mentor it’s usually One to One mentoring, based on role modelling, or in my property business it’s Pier to Pier mentoring and for other organisations I volunteer for it’s Youth mentoring or progression mentoring. I’ll be hoping to encourage other women in senior leadership roles to consider becoming a mentor to someone, to share their knowledge and skills especially to help retain other women within industry. Or even help shape the leaders of tomorrow. Let me know in the comments below if you’ve had a mentor and what your thoughts are. I’d really like to know. Maybe you’ve had more than one in your career ? Did anything stand out about them for you ? #iwd2024 #womeninleadership #womeninproperty #womeninconstruction #womensupportingwomen #womenempoweringwomen #mentoring #mentoringmatters Institute of Government & Public Policy Women In Leadership Conference

🌟 Mentorship has truly been a game-changer in my journey! With the support of incredible mentors who opened doors, shared their wisdom, and pushed me to grow, I’ve become a stronger leader—and I’m inspired to pay it forward. 🌍 That’s why I dedicate time each month to pro bono coaching for women and people of color, helping open doors that might otherwise feel out of reach. Mentorship isn’t just about skills; it’s about confidence, belonging, and breaking barriers together. Have you had a mentor who made an impact? Or are you paying it forward in your own way? Let’s celebrate those connections! #MentorshipMatters #WomenLeaders #POC #Leadership #GiveBack #CareerGrowth #OrganizationalChange #Mentorship #Empowerment #Coaching #LeadershipDevelopment

✨ Eighty Seconds of Development: The Power of Mentorship✨ Mentorship can provide grooming that leads to professional development and the gaining of critical knowledge. During my research on mentorship, a participant stated, "My mentor saw something in me and gave me opportunities to continue to grow." The participant would find success and become hired as one of the first Black women in college athletics. As a leader, examine your own organization. Who are you mentoring? There is someone in your organization in dire need of mentoring that could lead to an expansion of other opportunities. Mentoring is available to all leaders who make the competitive decision to step into advancing people. If leaders fail to address the need for mentorship, the more costly failures of advancing others in society will take a toll. Coincidentally, their organizations become stagnant, and the growth of people halts, which will be detrimental to the people and the organization. #EightySecondsofDevelopment #StorytellingInLeadership #InspireChange #CreateYourNarrative #LeadWithStories #EmpowerYourTeam #LeadershipGoals #DrEarlBennett #ExplorePage 👇 COMMENT BELOW 👇 👍 Like and Share to spread the importance of development! 🔄

Women in Administration, Please consider answering five quick questions for me by December 9, 2024. I would love to hear about your mentoring experience as part of my qualitative study for a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. Please share your thoughts on these key questions: 1) How did mentoring or developmental networks shape your career? 2) How do you define mentoring? 3) What aspects of mentoring (formal/informal) were most helpful to you? 4) Did your mentors share your gender, or were they from a different gender? 5) Were they supervisors, and were they within the same institution? 6) Do you have any other thoughts about mentoring? Your experience will provide valuable insights into mentoring's impact on leadership pathways. Thank you for contributing to my research, M. E.

"The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow" Nelson Mandela. There are a lot of heavy hearts in England today. It wasn't the result we hoped for. However, the youthful England team led us to the finals again. We didn't clinch the win this time, yet we were in the right place for a win. Something the English team showed was resilience. Jasmine was encouraging her daughter with a message about resilience this morning after her disappointment. Last week Jasmine did a talk on resilience at her Athena networking meeting and it was suggested that a talk like this would be great for our youth. Do you agree resilience building is something our youth need? Please type a 'YES' in the comments if you think our youth would benefit from a session like this. Also, if you know of an organisation working with youth, feel free to connect us by tagging someone from that organisation in the comments. We're supporting World Youth Skills Day. Let's support, encourage and develop our youth today and every day, because who knows where they'll lead us tomorrow. 👋🏾👏🏼 We're The Like Me CIC - a Leadership Development Training organisation. 🦸🏾♀️We specialise in empowering emerging and new female and ethnic leaders to overcome obstacles, fulfil their potential and advance to become effective leaders who flourish. 📩 Send a message for more information about Jasmine’s speaking or our Lunch & Learns. ❓Should we be seeking advice *now* from the leaders of our future❓ Our interview with Rose Cameron highlights the transformative power of ✨reverse mentoring✨ within our program's pedagogy. While Cameron supported students during our Bootcamps, she recognized that the energy, drive, and awareness among the young are crucial components that today's leaders often lack. 🧑🎓 Such cross-generational engagement is key to finding adaptive, inclusive solutions to some of the world's most pressing issues. - #ReverseMentoring #FutureLeaders #LeadershipDevelopment #CrossGenerational #InclusiveLeadership #MentorshipMatters #AdaptiveLeadership #InnovationInEducation #EdTech #FutureOfWork

In a world where we all strive to grow, learn, and achieve, one of the most meaningful ways to impact someone’s journey is through guidance and mentorship. The wisdom you share, the encouragement you offer, and the belief you instill in someone can transform their path in ways you might never fully see. Mentorship is more than just sharing advice—it’s about being present, investing in someone’s potential, and lighting a path that might otherwise seem unclear. Whether you are guiding a new team member, supporting a colleague through challenges, or nurturing a young professional’s career, the gift of mentorship has the power to create ripple effects of growth and success. #Mentorship#nurture#nurturementorship #Guidance #Leadership #PersonalGrowth https://lnkd.in/gJd25ZVU
