A study carried out by researchers at the NIHR Leeds BRC has revealed for the first time the benefits of screening for heart failure and providing specialised care for people with pacemakers. With up to 30 per cent of the one million pacemaker users in the UK having undiagnosed heart failure, the study highlights the potential need for combined heart failure-pacemaker clinics across the country and could influence cardiac care guidelines globally.
