In this episode, Russell and I relfect on the medicalization of aging and the drive to live ever longer lives. We ask the question..."at what cost and for what benefit?" Hope you will give a listen and tell us what you think.
The scope and intensity of health care products and services available today make it necessary for us to have thoughts about how much of our way of life we would be willing to give up for them. Finding the balance that works for people is a daunting task. In this episode of The Clinic & The Person, we consider this subject as three essayists thought about it. The essayists are Barbara Ehrenreich, Ezekiel Emanuel, and Michel de Montaigne.

“Have you gotten your breasts checked out recently?” Not exactly the best icebreaker, right? Unfortunately, healthcare often feels this abrupt. Instead, we should remember to start with muffins before mammograms. Build rapport before diving into serious, personal discussions—you can’t have intimate conversations without trust. But how? We’re all awkward and generally waiting to speak. Don’t. Listen. A good start is to understand where someone is coming from and intentionally listen to their pain points and needs. People are much more than their member ID or statistics. They need to feel heard and understood before you can offer timely and effective care. Our health and social care systems need to prioritize building strong relationships. The challenge lies in finding the space and time to reach these busy, hard-to-find families. That’s where Fabric Health comes in—to meet families where they are, in the time they have.

When to Apply Heat or Cold? 🤔 This might seem like common sense, but I’ve realized how crucial it is to share this info in my classes. We’re often not taught to reason about our health. We trust doctors and treatments without fully understanding them. Let’s become our own health advocates and listen to our bodies when they whisper, before they need to shout. 😉 ▶️ Excerpt from today’s video published on Youtube - link on my profile #CommonSense #ListenToYourBody #HealthTips #SelfCare #BeYourOwnDoctor #SmartHealth #BodyAwareness #WellnessJourney
