Meet Halima Mchomvu, a Senior Advertisement Executive at IPP Media, who shares how AHADI Mental Health training revolutionized her perspective on mental health. For Halima, the training was an eye-opener—mental health is not just about managing stress but also about mastering everyday essentials like time management and self-care. Looking forward to discuss about #mentalhealth at #workplace at Hospital Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin on 10 Oct 2024.
I love how the organizer aimed for healthy lifestyle...going beyond the isolated focus on mental #wellbeing. It goes to say how much work and personal life can influence each other and how different facets of life do the same.
If you're nearby, do drop by and say hello!

It is disheartening to see that despite the growing awareness of mental health issues, there are still individuals who choose to ignore its importance. The reality is that neglecting mental health is just as dangerous as neglecting physical health, and it can have devastating consequences.
In light of this, I am pleased to share that HRD Corp Johor is taking a proactive step by organizing a mental health seminar. This initiative aims to raise awareness and provide much-needed support for individuals grappling with mental health challenges. It is imperative that we come together as a community to prioritize mental well-being and ensure that those in need have access to the necessary resources and assistance.
I urge everyone to join us at the seminar and help spread the message about the significance of mental health. Let's work collectively to combat the stigma and ensure that individuals receive the support they deserve. Together, we can make a difference.

..,Pakistan suffers from a lack of institutional support and policies that address mental health in the workplace. Unlike many developed nations, where employee assistance programmes, flexible work arrangements, and mental health awareness training are becoming standard, such initiatives are rare in our corporate and industrial sectors. This gap underscores the need for both a cultural shift and legislative reforms to promote mental well-being at work.

🌟 Why I Founded Sama Health: Bridging Culture and Care 🌟
As a South Asian, growing up, there was a constant reminder that gratitude for one’s blessings should negate any feelings of discontent. 🙏 While this value nurtures thankfulness, it can also silence those among us who struggle in silence. I know this too well—it's a journey I've navigated personally, balancing gratitude with the right to seek help.
We're raised to put the family first, building a 'we-self' that bonds us but can overshadow our own needs. This connection is precious, yet it shouldn't come at the cost of our individual wellbeing. 🌱
My journey into the mental health field was inspired by my personal experiences within this cultural context. Witnessing the struggles of many who felt silenced by cultural norms, I saw a pressing need for a platform that could honor these traditional values while promoting individual mental health.
This led to the creation of Sama Health, a platform dedicated to providing culturally sensitive therapy for South Asians in the UAE. Our mission is to support individuals in expressing and managing their mental health needs in a way that resonates with their cultural identity and familial obligations.
🌱 We are driven by a vision to meld cultural respect with effective mental health care.
Let's build a future where cultural fidelity and mental wellbeing coexist, enabling every individual to thrive.

Meet Mr Ravi Parmar of our SGT UNIVERSITY who approaches his work with important qualities like happiness and honesty.
Every person working in any organization has different specialties but no one can be big or small because of their position.
If all universities, companies, institutions pay attention to this, it will work to increase happiness around you along with good mental health.
Today on the festival of Dussehra, let us all give up the attitude of judging someone because of their work.
This discrimination is particularly visible during festivals. People distribute premium sweets with their peers/family/friends while they choose to buy cheaper sweets for their administrative employees like security guards, cleaners, etc.
This is an act of patronage and shows the visible superiority complex of people towards the working class. Let us all come together and change it.
Let us all create a positive environment by sharing photos of such honest and sincere people at our workplace and start trying to become good humans.

In this video we covered the broader aspects of mental wellbeing and why it matters in our lives.
World Mental Health Day, observed on October 10th each year, holds significant importance for several reasons:
1. **Raising Awareness**: It provides a global platform to raise awareness about mental health issues. Many people are still unaware of the prevalence of mental health disorders and the impact they can have on individuals and communities.
2. **Reducing Stigma**: By promoting mental health awareness, the day helps to combat the stigma associated with mental illness. Stigma can prevent individuals from seeking help and support, so breaking down these barriers is essential.
3. **Promoting Action**: World Mental Health Day encourages governments, organizations, and communities to take action in improving mental health services and support systems. It highlights the need for accessible mental health care and resources.
4. **Encouraging Conversations**: It fosters open discussions about mental health, creating an environment where individuals feel more comfortable sharing their experiences and challenges. This dialogue can lead to better understanding and support for those struggling with mental health issues.
5. **Highlighting Importance of Mental Health**: The day emphasizes that mental health is as important as physical health. It encourages people to recognize the importance of taking care of their mental well-being and seeking help when needed.
6. **Focusing on Specific Issues**: Each year, World Mental Health Day usually has a specific theme that focuses on a particular aspect of mental health, such as youth mental health, workplace mental health, or mental health and well-being. This creates a focused agenda for discussion and action.
In summary, World Mental Health Day plays a crucial role in promoting awareness, reducing stigma, advocating for mental health resources, and encouraging open conversations about mental health issues globally.

I help mothers overcome Postpartum Depression, Reverse Ageing, and Live Longer, Healthier, and More Purposeful Lives using longevity-proven tools-Follow for Maternal Health, Self-Growth and Longevity tips
In World Mental Health Day, I want to spotlight a company truly leading by example.
Alshaya Group commitment to its employees and their families is not just words—it's action.
They're offering real, personalised support through the Lyra Wellbeing Hub app, covering everything from mental health specialists to life coaches and even legal advice, all at no cost.
This isn't a chatbot substitute; it's genuine real support for their employees and also their families.
While I don't work there, my sister does, granting me access to these invaluable services.
When I moved to Dubai back in 2021, I was broke and struggling with Postpartum depression and I could not afford ten sessions with a therapist for $300 each, so I can relate to and understand how impactful this action is.
New mothers who are working there are lucky because they will have access to the mental support they need that many can not afford.
This is authentic leadership—forward-thinking and heart-driven. Companies like Alshaya Group understand that today’s workforce seeks more than survival; they want to thrive.
This is what is truly called ‘Leadership by the heart ‘
While some other companies are still living in depression time considering parking spots or the occasional free lunch as 'perks', I'm hopeful that this company is an example for a future where corporate responsibility and employee wellbeing are not just buzzwords but integral parts of every company's culture.
Let's champion this example and push for a future where employee wellbeing is at the core of every organisation.
In the meantime, if you are a new mother and seek support, join our next Mummy Club event.

I've become a huge fan of using this simple self wellbeing survey developed by the Friendship Bench Zimbabwe.
While an effective and quick way to reflect at the start of the day I'm also using it as a warm up exercise at conferences and workshops especially when time is short.....
In just a few questions using this survey at the start of an event does the following:
😀 Starts a personal conversation among participants who can share their thoughts in pairs or small groups
😀 Focusses everyone on the issue of wellbeing which is the foundation of performance so this applies to any event
😀 Gets everyone thinking about the day ahead, why they are there, and what they want to get out of the event
😀 Provides a remarkably holistic view of health and wellbeing - physical, spiritual, social, emotional, mental
😀It has a question about #gratitude.....follow this up with asking everyone to share one thing they are grateful for and reflect on it for no more than 30 seconds and you've set everyone up with a positive mindset that will elevate their experience of the rest of the event! (People have better experiences if they are in a grateful frame of mind)
