Many of you will be at #AUSRAIL this week, and I’m curious to hear where the discussion might lead. Rail is projected to grow 200% by 2050 (against 2019 OECD - OCDE figures) – but alongside that growth is the imperative that it be safe, sustainable and cost-effective. The good news – as we explore in our brand new #Infrastructors series – is that the simulation capabilities of virtual twins allow operators to deliver services that meet the standards required. Consider safety: by letting operators understand how trains will behave at different speeds, or under different loading weights, simulation capabilities can help anticipate and avoid derailment scenarios. Or look at fuel use, which accounts for 20% of freight costs. With simulation, operators can model how things like carriage shape and layout impact train aerodynamics, and make informed choices that both reduce costs AND cut emissions! By flying above the waves, the VS—9 delivers the experience of a larger vessel on an agile platform that can be berthed and charged in nearly any marina.  Designed and built to commercial standards, the VS—9 will unlock entirely new opportunities on the water. 10 years from now, every major body of water will have vessels like these delivering better and more sustainable experiences. Tomorrow, 26th November 2024, in Paris, Angela Veiga de la Fuente, Ph.D., will be moderating Panel Discussion 3 at the EU-Rail project IAM4RAIL Mid-Term Conference 🚆👏 The #IAM4RAIL project focuses on seven different integrated demonstrators for rail assets which are key for #research and #innovation in the #rail sector. Integrating asset condition information obtained via advanced monitoring with decision-making tools and into the traffic management system (TMS). The project will combine available information with #AI and #DigitalTwins are covered as key topics through a European cross-border, interoperable and holistic integrated approach. The project also explores the use of #robotics and #AdditiveManufacturing technologies to enhance the maintenance and management of rail assets. At #Ceit, we are actively contributing to the project by developing exoskeletons, augmented reality tools for maintenance assistance, infrastructure inspection systems, and laser-based rail repair and switchgear systems.🚈 🎯 During the conference, Angela will be moderating Panel Discussion 3 on “Environmentally Friendly Asset Production & Maintenance Support Technologies,” where key points will include optimizing design solutions and worker-friendly interventions.
