A LOW-TECH SOLUTION FOR OUR TECH ADDITION In our fast-paced, technology-driven world, it’s no surprise that many of us struggle to stay off our phones. As Cordilia James stated in The Wall Street Journal, "we lack the will power to stay off our phones." In today's digital age, technology plays an integral role in our daily lives. However, the increasing dependence on smartphones, social media, and other digital devices has raised significant concerns about its impact on our mental health. This pervasive tech addiction is a growing concern but there are simple, effective ways to counteract it. Alongside innovative solutions like Yondr, a maker of little bags for locking up your phones, we turn to a timeless, low-tech activity: gardening. Gardening provides a perfect escape from the digital world, allowing us to reconnect with nature. Whether you have a spacious backyard or a small balcony, creating a green space offers a sanctuary away from screens. The tactile experience of nurturing plants, and harvesting produce grounds us in the present moment, promoting mindfulness and reducing stress. While tools like Yondr help us manage our tech use by physically limiting access to our phones, gardening offers a holistic approach. It provides a fulfilling and productive alternative to screen time, helping us develop healthier habits naturally. By getting our hands dirty and engaging with nature, we can break free from our tech even for a moment and enjoy a more balanced, enriching life. I recently attended an incredible Garth Brooks concert in LV and while I was a little stressed about putting my phone in a YONDR I have to admit it allowed me to full enjoy the concert without the work or worry of catching every exciting song on camera. So kudos to Graham Dugoni the founder of Yondr for bringing us further opportunities to experience life. #Gardening #TechAddiction #Mindfulness #SustainableLiving #ReconnectWithNature #MentalHealth #PhysicalHealth #Community #WSJ #Yondr https://lnkd.in/g3n3v3fE

I absolutely love event day. It’s the culmination of countless hours spent carefully orchestrating every detail, often unnoticed by anyone but your team. For an entire year, you and your colleagues work tirelessly—perfecting everything, from the timing of food service to the color of the lights to create an unforgettable experience for your guests. Only your team knows the true story behind each decision—the countless walkthroughs of the venue to ensure the right signage directs people seamlessly, so no one has to think about anything other than enjoying themselves. Only your team knows the creativity behind a simple piece of folded cardboard hidden beneath a sequin tablecloth, stabilizing a cocktail table to ensure a guest's drink stays intact. Only your team understands the hours spent perfecting every aspect of the auction setup, making sure it looks flawless down to the last detail. Only your team knows the pressure of making that last-minute change, just 20 minutes before the doors open, and the commitment to making it work seamlessly. But if you’re lucky, you get to agonize over these details because you know it will make a difference. You get to pour your heart into an event that fuels a cause you truly believe in. And if you’re really lucky, your hard work helps change the life of a child, battling an unimaginable diagnosis, by doing something you love. 🤍 #CheersforBrennerChildrens #BrennerChildrensHospital Atrium Health Levine Children's Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Atrium Health

VIBES SELL - and we have some data to prove it. Andrew Coplon of Secret Hopper recently published this piece "Packed Taprooms: The More, The Merrier, The More Money" showing "Guests spent 38% more in packed taprooms compared to empty taprooms from 2017 to 2022" (https://lnkd.in/ej_xTUeN). There are a lot of great actionable steps in Andrew's piece that I encourage you to check out. I have a few to add: 1. Think about 'community coalescing events' as I call them. What is the SHARED experience of your guests in your space? If it is just food and beer that is not enough. Give them that band, that event, those moments that create head nods among those in attendance and FOMO of those who did not show up. These do not have to be massive festivals - although those are perfect for this goal. Meaningful moments within a night can make all of the difference. A great example is C&O Trattoria in LA. In the evenings, on the hour, they play "That's Amore" and walk around singing along, cheersing every guest, and encouraging others to sing as well. Absolutely perfect small moment. 2. Space design - find ways to make your place more modular. If you have 50 people in a 300 person hall it feels 'empty.' But if there are 50 people in a small intimate bar it can feel 'packed.' It's not the number of people; it's how they feel. Design or modify your space to be able to visually close off zones on slow nights to make the space feel fuller. Good architects and designers can help you do this from the beginning if you are designing a new space especially, but they can also help work in existing spaces. Just ask Joe Stromer for example. 3. Focus your marketing on getting people in the door. It starts with tracking guest count and setting goals. Then work on designing and promoting properly around impacting guest count. Test concepts, track data, improve results. Keep iterating. Go read the articles on this topic, and if you are able to join Craft Beer Professionals at CBP Connects In Portland JUNE 10 - 12. There are some incredible seminars and resources at this event to impact your business. https://lnkd.in/epPJRfcW
