New paper alert! In 2021, we asked Australian primary school parents what they thought about school food and nutrition, including education, practices and policy. 787 parents responded to the survey. Making healthy options available in canteens, applying healthy food policies (eg. Nude food), fruit and veg breaks, as well as kitchen & garden programs, were listed as the main promoters of healthy eating. Parents viewed unhealthy options in canteens, school fairs and birthdays as major contributors to unhealthy eating habits.
