Why More Travelers Are Choosing Hotels Over Airbnbs. Airbnbs and Vrbos have been popular options for travelers in recent years, but the tide is shifting in favor of hotels. According to recent findings, demand for short-term rentals in cities and suburbs is no longer climbing as it did after 2020. The demand has been steady, at about 9% in suburban areas and 7% in urban markets over the past year. A closer look at popular vacation spots in Florida, like Daytona Beach and Sarasota, reveals that short-term rentals aren’t faring so well in specific categories, especially compared to single hotel rooms. For example, demand for one-bedroom rentals in these areas grew by only 1% from 2023 to 2024, while private rooms in shared homes saw an 8.7% decline. One key reason for this shift could be the extra fees associated with short-term rentals. These fees can add up quickly for travelers booking a short stay or in smaller groups, making hotels a more budget-friendly option. Depending on the hotel rates, staying in a traditional hotel might just make more financial sense. While Airbnb still offers unique experiences—like having an entire home to yourself, a kitchen to whip up meals, and even a backyard for socializing—the appeal isn’t as strong as it once was for everyone. Take one avid traveler’s experience, for example. After years of relying on Airbnb for trips, he recently found himself reconsidering after encountering a hefty cleaning fee of $200 for a two-night stay. Instead of going through with the booking, he put the money towards a longer vacation later in the year. These days, many travelers are rethinking their options and finding that hotels offer a more straightforward and often more affordable experience. With added perks like loyalty points, convenience, and no surprise fees, hotels are proving to be tough competitors in the travel game. There will continue to be many areas where Short-term rentals are a better option, however, the current trend is leaning back towards hotels. Please let me know what your thoughts are. #hotels #hotelrewards #shortermrentals

Will it be a new trend? This is definitely a #hospitality trend to keep an eye on and be ready to adapt for! Cities like Barcelona are banning Airbnb. This crackdown on short-term rentals presents on opportunity for hotels! Short-term rental restrictions could leave families with limited options. Package deals, connecting rooms, and kid-friendly amenities could position your hotel as the clear winner. With less competition, hotels might have more wiggle room on pricing. Time to revisit your revenue management strategies! Tourists seeking authenticity could be your new best friends. Play up local partnerships, cultural experiences, and the unique charm your property offers.
