Yesterday we held our long overdue Q4 QBR (yeas really 😅) but logically it was more of a FY23 summary. Some of the main messages I wanted to communicate to the team: 📣 Reminder: I'm your biggest cheerleader! 👀 We are often running so fast that we forget to take a moment and reflect, observe how far you've all come- all the miles we've run! 🏆 Share the good news for those who made #presidentsclub and will be flying to Malta in May!! (myself included ofc!) 💰The amount of deals we were actively involved in and the revenue generated is truly remarkable. 🍻 We are setting the bar higher for the broader team and company as a whole and you should be as proud of yourselves as I am! 🦁 Even as FY24 targets went up significantly up, I believe in you- We can do it! Specially after speaking with many #sdr s and fellow Sales leaders at the SDRs of Israel meeting this week (btw thanks 🎗️ Neta!) I can proudly say that a team achieving +%200 in Pipeline generation and %184 in revenue targets reaching the $15MM ARR milestone for the region in 23' is way above average, as it is having the pleasure to sell a solution you truly believe on and is rated a leader by Gartner,Forrester, Micron, Omdia and the list keeps going. Learning from leaders you can look up to like Kelly Lichtenberger, Chris Riley, Don Byrne; Working with a Manager that supports you and is willing to go the extra mile to make you successful is not so common (Yeah, I deserve some love too 🤣)- I even offered flying to Singapore just to punch somebody in the face for them or volunteered to sing their praises if at any point of their career they’re asked for a reference. We talk a lot about performance cultures but sales is one of the hardest functions to do this, as results, outcomes, tasks and activities have been the norm forever. None help quality as you speed up and dilute bad activity guess what? Telling someone to hit their target is like saying don’t worry! Back in 2014, I entered the Leonardo da Vincilaan Belux Office to grab a laptop, lunch with colleagues and join the Best Sales Force of the world. I was a bit nervous coming from a pure Belgian Infra company to an American IT Advisory company - I had the feeling of starting an MBA, only daring to think about the next 2 years. The day after I boarded for my first trip to US to “embark” at the Fort Myers Sales academy. I met many folks who are now top achievers or Client Directors, Sales Managers, etc. Only the very Best ! When you start at Gartner academy you pick an adjective starting like your first name. Mine "Emotional" Emmanuel. And the emotions seriously accelerated during the next 10 years. I remember my first meeting with a well renowned Chief Architect trying to understand the largest Agile at scale transformation - practicing Value Selling on steroids. I still keep the reputation of Mister WHY (fortunately Questioning even became a discipline 😊) From Peer to Leader was the next adventure, overseeing the Banking and Insurance, Luxembourg & Business Development teams. Some Cool team names like “The Wolves” , “Nutcrackers” came out of long team identity workshops. And in December 2020 I took the crazy challenge to take over the Belux region, and to reshape the team and the culture. Engagement was done through walks, virtual celebrations and finally led to coming back to the office after 1.5 years! Yes, that’s VUCA. Gartner has been a fantastic platform for personal growth - the talent density, being at the core of sales and tech research, facing everyday very talented C-Levels internally (my dear EPs!) and externally (our wonderful CIOs, CISOs and CDAOs..) nurtured me into being the person I am now. This journey helped me transform into a better person as a leader, colleague and family member. The biggest gift I received is the conviction that everything is possible; if you do the right things, great results will follow. Earlier this week, I had the privilege to celebrate these first 10 years with my colleague Kelly Pauwels, the team, and a wonderful blue cake! I also received a happy work anniversary card with touching messages. I will take this one from a recent hire. “Congrats on 10y and, more importantly, the exceptional team atmosphere and collaborative spirit you have created here (something which unfortunately cannot be captured by any best practice metric... ;)). After an amazing stint in London at Pavilion #GTMEMEA , I'm thrilled to be back hopping around Europe. The energy in London was incredible, and the insights gained there have reinforced my belief in the power of strong, empowered teams. Our outsourced BDRs/SDRs continue to be the backbone of driving revenue for our clients, and it's crucial that we keep this momentum going. Effective communication with our CROs, CMOs, CFOs, and CEOs ensures that their BDRs are always in the loop. This synergy is essential for enhancing their current efforts and facilitating expansion. Outbound isn't dead; it's evolving. The key to growth lies in how we approach prospects and address their concerns.
