How to negotiate salary and benefits with a new job Did you just get offered a new job? Congratulations! Now, it is time for some much-dreaded salary negotiations. Here’s what we think you should know about it: 1. Do your research Never walk into a salary negotiation without doing proper research. Find the low, mid, and high ranges for your job title. 2. Know your value Understand where you fall into line with the average salary ranges for your skill level in your industry and be prepared to show it to the employer. 3. Be confident Don’t show the employer that you are not confident about your skills when you negotiate salary and benefits. 4. Look at the whole picture Don’t just focus your negotiations on the salary. Be prepared to negotiate your benefits package as well. 5. Practice with a friend Do a mock negotiation with a friend so that the discussion can go on without hiccups on the actual day of the negotiation. #careercoach #careerdevelopment #careeradvice #careergoals #career #careercoaching #careerchange #jobsearch #careertips #careergrowth #careersuccess #motivation #lifecoach #careers #resume
