Our knowledgeable volunteers will answer your questions, and you can purchase some freshly ground grits or cornmeal. Find out more at www.hambidge.org/events Barker’s Creek Mill at the Hambidge Center has been providing the local community with milling services since the mid 1800’s. Mary Hambidge built the current mill in 1944 at the site of an older mill that served the community since the first white settlers came into the area in the late 1820’s. The mill is powered by a 12-foot overshot wheel set on babbet bearings. It was converted from a wooden spoked, steel-rimmed wheel to the current metal spokes in the 1960's. The mill has been renovated three times in its life, the most recent in the late 1980’s. The mill itself is a vertical mill with two 16" flint/granite stones. It was built by the Meadow’s Milling Company in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. This video demonstration is the first in a series of demonstrations that will help you visualise the difference between our FireWright treatment and untreated counterparts. This video shows our FireWright treatment impregnated into eucalyptus plywood pitted against an untreated structure of the same species. The demonstration shows a fire break-out in the corner of the structures on the ground floor. Each of the structures also has a first floor ‘room’ to simulate a building with two floors to enable us to see the impact the fire has on the ceiling of a building. Pins have always meant something special to me. More than just accessories, they represent the causes and movements that matter. I still have pins from campaigns, rallies, and community events over the years – reminders of the progress made thanks to those that shoulder up and stand together. I also grew up admiring historical pins for the causes that still resonate. Recently, I started thinking about pins differently. What if a pin could symbolize a personal quest? A personal journey towards finding purpose in all areas of life? Just like rally pins brought together people pursuing change, a personal pin could attract stories, opportunities and connections aligned with our deepest goals. In the end, pins unite people behind common causes. And what's more powerful than the collective and shared pursuit of purpose? Especially in this town. 💌 Mount Purpose.

Had a great evening at the Clay community event in NYC. I was so reminded of the various Tableau community events (albeit an early stage Tableau). Super passionate users, Clay creators and employees. Like Tableau in the early days lots of young people making their name and being successful entrepreneurs. Eric who presented would be considered a ‘Zen master’ (Tableau speak). It went long and no one wanted to leave. All that was missing was hands on ‘Doctor sessions’. (If you don’t know what this is ask someone who knows Tableau). It’s that kind of a product. Excited to say I was at the first one. I can see a Clay conference, Clay User Group (CUG does not have the same sound as TUG) meetings, Clay Days at customers etc. in the future. If you are not using Clay for your outbound you are missing out. An SDR with Clay will be as effective as 5 SDRs without Clay. I am a Palestinian business owner. Deal with it. I am proud to use our small business platform to stand up for justice. Asking for an end to an indiscriminate war on a civilian population isn't conditional on who's paying us or who may be uncomfortable with our beliefs. I believe in peace, in justice, in humanity, in a ceasefire. It's pretty simple. As a business owner, I am fully aware of the risk this poses – if only our company measured its success and worth by its bottom line, which we don't. We measure our company success by knowing who we are. We measure it by having solidarity for any member of our staff whose identity, people, community or self expression are threatened or at risk. I am particularly aware of the bias that will be assumed in my position on the topic of Palestine. I also know what my progressive values are: uncompromising, especially in this moment. Excessive and disproportionate use of power, in any circumstance, needs to be called out. Independence in this case means the above views are my own... AND MY COMPANY'S. ✊
