The content covered three key areas i) Employee Care Guidelines with Technology Tools and Comprehensive Employee Care Solutions from WHAbit ii) Lifestyle Medicine to help plan behavior changes for better health from Samitivej Chonburi Hospital iii) Occupational Medicine for occupational healthcare from Bangkok Hospital Rayong In addition, there were numerous workshops for participants to learn and enjoy more, from allied hospitals and the Mental Health Center in Chonburi Province. I often receive messages on how to look for jobs in workplace wellbeing. Key words and ideas from our conversation was to look for "corporate wellness", "workplace wellness" and "wellness vendor". Some HR, people operations, or people and culture roles may align with certain wellness specialties. You may also find roles in facilities or operations divisions. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬 Sometimes it may be helpful to look for an organization you want to work with first and then look for available roles. Try finding companies by searching for health plans, insurance brokers, wellness vendors, wellness technology, employee assistance programs, wellness benefits, health and productivity companies, health and wellness coaching services. There are so many different opportunities within workplace wellness there may be more roles open that just aren't as easy to find. Another idea is to search for "best places to work" or "healthiest employers" in your city and state. This may help you find companies where you would want to work that already adopt well workplace strategies. 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 Workplace wellbeing is a vast landscape. To be successful you will need to learn about different aspects or "know enough to be dangerous" but honing in on your area of specialty can help you find the best roles for your skill set and/or align your work with your ideal client or organization. You may find that you work best in a specific industry (construction, legal firms, faith-based organizations, etc.) or with a particular demographic or a targeted age group. No one person can do it all, so don't feel like you need to learn or master everything. Wellness is interdisciplinary and ideally you will lean on your community to create a culture of referrals and respect. Workplace Wellness: We have some way to go…. In 2024, workplace wellness is no longer an optional initiative; it has become a strategic priority for many organizations. Yet, data reveals that while most companies acknowledge its importance, few fully implement comprehensive wellness programs. There is a definite gap between intent and execution. Approximately 85% of large companies and 54% of small companies offer some form of what they term as a wellness program, but these are often fragmented, addressing only select areas. And whilst 96% of CEOs believe they are doing enough for employee wellness, only 69% of employees would agree, highlighting a disconnect between leadership and the workforce This discrepancy suggests that many initiatives fail to address employees’ real needs or lack effective feedback. The accusation is that organizations frequently rely on reactive measures, such as Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), instead of addressing systemic causes like heavy workloads or poor management techniques. Whilst there is a relatively low uptake in wellness programs, Companies with robust wellness initiatives report savings of $5.82 in absenteeism costs for every dollar spent. 63% of employers with wellness programs report enhanced financial sustainability and business growth. And around 70% of employees involved in wellness programs report higher job satisfaction. To fully realize the potential of wellness programs, organizations must: 1. Invest in holistic strategies that address physical, mental, social, and financial well-being. 2. Train managers to spot and address wellness challenges effectively. 3. Foster a culture of feedback to ensure that wellness programs are aligned with employee needs. While the benefits are clear, the journey toward comprehensive wellness in the workplace very definitely remains a work in progress.
