What is the commercial real estate equivalent of “When in Rome, do as the romans do?” When in commercial real estate, do as Blackstone does? In the first quarter of 2024, Blackstone deployed $25 billion of capital. They spent $13.5 billion buying publicly traded REITs. As if that weren't a clear enough signal, they had this to say on their 1Q earnings call. "In real estate, we shared our view in January that commercial real estate values were bottoming" and "And as we keep saying, we're not going to wait for the all-clear sign..."
