The FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert M. Califf spoke with NPR about the agency's process for regulating artificial intelligence in healthcare during which he stated, "It's very important that we get the clinical community - the health systems, the professions, the people that you see for your health care - to be very involved in developing what we would call an ecosystem of regulation where these algorithms can be constantly evaluated." In our Mayo Clinic Proceedings article, my colleagues discuss ways in which internal accountability for safe, effective, and ethical implementation of AI can be embedded into healthcare institutions. I invite you to join this dialogue. We have much to learn and share. Co-authors: David Vidal David McClintock Mark Lifson Eric Williamson Shauna M.
