"That’s why programs such as Jumpstart, run through GW’s Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service—are so critical in the work they do to prepare every child to enter school prepared to succeed. Williams takes that to heart every time she tutors a group of eager toddlers who have not yet stepped foot in a kindergarten classroom. In fact, it’s become the trailhead to her path destined for making a difference." Read this wonderful highlight of Jumpstart Team Leader Kimora Williams in GW Today!

As we welcome Back to School Month, it's a time of new beginnings and fresh opportunities for students everywhere. This period marks a return to learning, growth, and exciting adventures in the classroom. It's a chance for kids to reconnect with friends, meet new teachers, and embark on another year of educational exploration. Motivating children to return to school can be a challenge, but it is essential for a successful start. Encouraging a positive mindset by setting goals, creating a fun morning routine, and celebrating small achievements can make a significant difference. Involving kids in back-to-school preparations, like picking out supplies and planning outfits, helps build excitement and a sense of ownership over their education. Making the back-to-school experience enjoyable is crucial for fostering a love of learning. Organize fun activities like themed days, educational games, or family discussions about the upcoming school year to keep the enthusiasm high. By turning the transition back to school into a joyful and engaging experience, we can help children develop a lifelong passion for learning and ensure they are ready to thrive in the new school year. #empower #educate #back2school Visit our website https://lght.ly/72pmpd7

As professionals in education and child development, we know that fostering creativity is essential for nurturing innovative thinkers. Carl Jung once said, "The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct." This insight emphasizes the importance of play in the learning process. At Creative Nature Academy, we integrate this philosophy into our programs—ranging from homeschool classes to summer camps and family learning opportunities. By encouraging children to engage with nature and participate in hands-on activities, we cultivate curiosity and imaginative thinking. Our approach not only promotes creativity but also develops critical thinking skills vital for their future. How do you incorporate play into your educational practices to inspire creativity in your students? Let’s share ideas and insights to support the next generation of leaders and creators! #CreativeNatureAcademy #EducationalInnovation #ChildDevelopment #OutdoorEducation #CreativityInLearning #Homeschooling #SummerCamps #ProfessionalDevelopment #CriticalThinking #PlayBasedLearning

#Summerlearning today looks different than the punitive “summer school” of the past. Focusing on enrichment alongside academics offers students a chance to engage with topics they’re interested in while reinvesting them in school. Check out the video: https://bit.ly/47Ai7Cp

Yesterday was a day well spent with an incredible team of Early Head Start Coaches! We focused on The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos and took a deep dive into translating their ideas of fidelity into evidence-based practices. The goal was to ensure the coaches can: 1️⃣ Recognize fidelity when they see it in classrooms. 2️⃣ Understand and support the diverse ways teachers demonstrate fidelity, using tailored #coaching #strategies to refine and enhance their practice. For example, we started with broad terms about their expectations such as “intentionality” and “accuracy”—but what do those actually look like in action? Together, we broke them down into observable practices, like: ✅ Teachers develop lesson plans ahead of time based on assessment #data. ✅ Observations accurately reflect children’s current level of development. When working with coaches, it’s critical for me to bridge the gap between #theory and practice. This means asking the tough questions, challenging assumptions, and creating a shared understanding of what success looks like in the classroom. It’s always a privilege to collaborate with professionals who are committed to supporting teachers and making a meaningful impact on young learners. This was one of my favorite trips to Denver, especially since I got to escape the bitter cold 🥶 of the windy city! I'm looking forward to working with them again. #earlychildhoodeductation #professionaldevelopment

At this stage of the future schools process, parents will begin to consider the offers that their children have received, and try to decide on the 'right' school for their child. We ask our parents to simply consider where that child will thrive and what will allow them to do so... each child is different and every child has different needs, and therefore, it is important to not compare with others but consider what is best for that individual. It got me thinking about how/why my parents and I picked my senior school.. The 4 main reasons that I believe (in no particular order): 1) Amazing sport, with a huge variety of options and opportunities. 2) All boys school. 3) Boarding - ready to fly the nest. 4) Academically challenging, but would not go missing in class. How did you and your parents pick your senior school?
