Where is Boston’s Bushwick? We don’t have one! And maybe this is the reason so many recent graduates and young professionals are leaving the city. Boston needs to solve the liquor license and venue issues. The city has lost its cool factor. It’s too hard to open up a new venue unless you’re one of the few major owners already. I’m not a big drinker or partier, however it’s absurd that 90% of establishments close at 11pm on Sunday night of a holiday weekend. It is a Real Estate industry issue as people will pay a premium to be in a city that has ample entertainment offerings and will leave when it doesn't. Affordability is only part of the issue in attracting and retaining talent in the city. NYC, LA, Miami, Austin, even Chicago all kick Boston's butt in this arena. It's sad and embarrassing. Could Newmarket (edge of South End and Roxbuy) be a warehouse club district? Or perhaps a few venues in the space between the Seaport and South Boston?  Or maybe fill vacant office buildings/units with penthouse/rooftop venues? That will get people downtown. Thoughts? As longtime residents, we have seen Columbus grow from a sleepy town to a big city. One of the major changes came in 1999 with the introduction of Easton, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary. We have witnessed the evolution of the uber successful retail/entertainment/office/residential attraction since its grand opening. Evolution is the key description. It would have been easy to resist change. Instead, it has embraced it during its remarkable run. During a recent visit, there was one more refresh happening, with spaces under construction for new brands, such as Louie Vuitton, David Yurman and more. And Cameron Mitchell’s recently opened Del Mar has reinvigorated the area that once housed Bon Vie. This is not meant to promote Easton. It is to use them as an example of how brands—no matter how successful—need to continue to evolve to meet changing needs and demands. We saw what happened to traditional malls. After 25 years, you’d think the same would occur with Easton. But it continues to hustle.  #RSRockMedia #Branding #Easton 

Lead... Santa Monica’s Macerich Co. is considering a sale for Santa Monica Place Mall, after its ongoing financial struggles at its once flagship location have prompted a massive decline in value. Macerich CEO, said earlier this month that Santa Monica Place was one of several properties the company would like to sell alongside the Shops at Atlas Park in New York, Southridge Mall in Iowa and The Oaks mall in Thousand Oaks. https://lnkd.in/gveEQCP7
