This is such an important topic that deserves more attention as we face heat waves, droughts and wildfires across the country. We need to work together in (and with!) our communities to raise awareness, prepare, and mitigate extreme heat-related challenges. #heatwave #extremeheat #climatecrisis
Heat waves are growing: The number has grown from two heat waves per year during the 1960s to six per year in the current and last decade, according to Environmental Protection Agency research. And the length of a #heat wave has grown from three days to four. Read more about the impact: https://bit.ly/3WawWb2

Now we await COP 2025 where the Basel Convention might include the HKC specifically for ships. At the same time we need the technical guidance provided in the Basel Convention to be included in the HKC. While working in ship recycling and management of hazard waste we do look up to the technical guidance notes for reference provided in the Basel Convention. We understand that HKC is not enough in itself, both the connections are important and both must be applied with clear application of provisions of The BC in the HKC. We would further require some of the provisions of the EUSRR to be included in the Basel Convention. #Shiprecycling #baselconvention #cop2025

Iowa's Impaired Waters List identifies the lakes, wetlands, streams that do not meet water quality standards for point source and non-point source pollutants. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources analyzed 1,428 waterbody segments for the state's Impaired Waters List. In November, the Environmental Protection Agency evaluated the state's submission and determined that it is not fully consistent with the requirements of the Clean Water Act. Read our newest blog on the Impaired Waters List revisions and submit your comments to the EPA by December 13. Read here: iaenvironment.org/blog/
