The girls are off to the village. During the festive season, most nannies or house helps go home to celebrate with their families. With their absence, life is expected to still move on as normal. So who covers for her???? You and the children take up her roles. Do the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. Well, it's a challenge for those with very young children, but for those with pre teens and above, let them roll up the sleeves and get working. My children have split the roles with everyone shunning away from lighting the "sigiri," which seems to be the hardest chore. Since it's the most challenging, we shall take turns to light it. The five year old too booked the role of setting plates at mealtime as well as switching lights on and off so she's not excluded. Its time to wake up early and try out those favorite breakfasts they demand, chop the onions they hate, clean up the house, and clean all dishes. This holiday challenge is a great opportunity for the children to exhibit some skills in cookery or baking, house organizing, teamwork and time management. Great time to analyze your children's abilities, creativity, and weakness. Do it🙏🏿 #holidayactivities #skills #talentdevelopment #Parenting

Personally I'd ban all kids under 14 from any adult restaurant that doesn't have a kids menu or outside space: "Aye or nay? The English House's new age limit on children dining in has some customers divided". "Establishments may have their own set of rules for customers, but it seems some may be more controversial than others. The English House, a restaurant along 28 Mohamed Sultan Rd, shared on its Instagram account that it will introduce an age limit, allowing only children aged six years and above to dine in. The new rule started on Nov 18. "This decision comes after careful consideration and is based on recent experiences we've had at our restaurant," The English House shared." When I used to see my kids I would take them to places like Brotzeit that clearly caters for kids and "Disney dads" as my first ex used to call me. They have a kids menu, they have beer, they have kids chairs but they also have outside spaces to avoid them. But if you're taking your screaming kids to a place that is clearly designed for adults and not kids and where people are spending hundreds of dollars and not expecting a backlash then you're living in a very entitled world. No we don't care about your kids, only you do. Some couples don't want kids, don't like kids and therefore have no desire to be around kids. I include myself in this and my wife, May, too. They are not the only restaurant to do this. "For instance, Japanese tempura restaurant Tenshin has a rule where children under the age of 10 years old are not allowed to dine in except during Sundays and public holidays. And there's Michelin-starred Odette and Les Amis, which only cater to children above the age of 12 and 10 respectively. In 2022, Angie's Oyster Bar & Grill made the news for imposing a $10 surcharge on 'screaming, uncontrolled' kids." Ultimately if a restaurant says no kids, respect it and leave the kids with a babysitter and if you don't like it well tough, it's not your restaurant, it's the owners and they can set what rules they want! Nothing spoils a romantic evening more than screaming, entitled kids. What do you think? Link to the story here: https://lnkd.in/gM6cRjr7

Thanksgiving gatherings can be a whirlwind of activity, and that can sometimes be overwhelming for kids (and adults!). Here's how to create some calming spaces and moments amidst the holiday bustle: 🔕 Quiet Zone: Designate a quiet room or corner where kids can retreat for some peace and quiet. Include calming items like soft blankets, pillows, books, or sensory toys. ⏲️ Scheduled Breaks: Plan short breaks throughout the day where kids can step away from the excitement. Even 15 minutes can help them recharge. 🎶 Sensory Activities: Offer calming sensory activities like coloring, play dough, puzzles, or listening to quiet music. 🌤️ Outdoor Time: Encourage some outdoor playtime to burn off energy and enjoy fresh air. Recognize that every child is different. Some might thrive in the excitement, while others need more downtime. Be responsive to their cues. By creating a balance between festive fun and peaceful moments, you can help everyone enjoy a happy and stress-free Thanksgiving. #SensoryFriendly #CalmKids #HolidayWellbeing #SHIELDWV

Thanksgiving isn’t just about turkey and pie, it’s an opportunity to have real, transformative conversations about the future with our loved ones. Our friend, Dr. Joe Coughlin's Forbes article lays it out beautifully: the time to talk about aging parents’ needs, aspirations, and challenges is now. At Restaura, we’re not just listening to these conversations, we’re building solutions that challenge the status quo. The Senior Living food and dining space has been stuck in a cycle of complacency for too long. We’re here to break that cycle and redefine what it means to thrive in the later stages of life. Where others see aging as a problem to manage, we see vibrant, ageless individuals whose preferences, stories, and goals demand better. Better dining experiences. Better personalization. Better living. We’re building something bold and different. At Restaura, we’re not just creating “options”, we’re crafting an unapologetically delicious, tech-forward, human-first approach to food and dining. This article is a reminder that everything starts with a conversation. The ones we have around the table today will shape the innovation we need tomorrow. That’s the future we’re working toward, one where your family’s needs aren’t just heard; they’re met with solutions that elevate their entire experience. Let’s disrupt. Let’s rebuild. Let’s start talking. https://lnkd.in/ePBvcK5w
