👶👧🧒 The Children's Advocacy Center provides vital support and resources to children and families who have experienced trauma or abuse. We believe that every child deserves love, care, and a chance to heal. And that's where YOU come in! 🙌 🎁📚 We are seeking donations of new items that will bring joy and comfort to these young individuals. Here are some suggested items you can donate: 1️⃣ Toys and Games: Help brighten their days with age-appropriate toys, stuffed animals, puzzles, board games, and art supplies. 2️⃣ Books: Foster their love for reading by donating new or gently used books for all age groups. Inspire their imaginations and provide an escape into the world of storytelling. 3️⃣ Clothing and Accessories: Children and teens often need new clothes due to growth or changes in their circumstances. You can contribute by donating new clothing, shoes, and accessories. 4️⃣ School Supplies: Help them succeed academically by providing new school supplies, backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, and other essentials. 5️⃣ Personal Care Items: Support their well-being by donating new toiletries, hygiene products, and personal care items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and soap. 💙💚 Your generous donations will make a significant difference in the lives of these children and families , showing them that they are valued and cared for by their community. Why It Matters:

Here's the thing to remember this Giving Tuesday: Donors already have the resources to equip grassroots nonprofits with everything they need. There are $228.89 billion in charitable assets sitting in donor-advised funds (DAFs) in the United States. On average, only 22.5% is actually granted out each year. The rest just sits there. We started our Get Off Your Assets campaign as a call to our partners to move more money, more urgently to historically marginalized communities. And our community answered the call: Tides Foundation DAF partners give double the national average. Confession: I like Giving Tuesday 🤯 I don't like it for the flood of posts and endless requests I receive, but because it's a day intentionally indicated to giving any kind or amount of personal resources to each other. ❓ Why should I give? We all have needs. Needing can be scary, especially when we spend each day trying to fulfill our own needs and those of our in-group. However, needing can also be exceptionally companionable when we realize it's what we all have in common. So, in my opinion, you should give something this Giving Tuesday because we all need something. ➕ Additionally, today most places have opportunities to match your donation! You can give the same amount on any other day, but today is the day it will make the most impact. ❓ What should I give? The simple answer is to examine what you have to give. You can give time by volunteering, you can give energy by learning about local causes, you can give items to in-kind donations, and, of course, you can always give money. Giving is an expression of empathy. I like Giving Tuesday because today, there is energy, time, and resources committed to compounding your expression of empathy, which is why today is the day to intentionally give.

A few sobering stats from the "Household Food Insecurity in Canada, 2022"◽ report: ◾ 22.9% of households in Newfoundland and Labrador experienced some degree of food insecurity in the previous 12 months, amounting to 116,000 people. ◾ This is the highest rate in any of the ten provinces in Canada. ◾ 28.8% of children under 18 in Newfoundland and Labrador lived in food-insecure households. Since 2022, NLCU has held its annual NLCU Fall Food Drive to help support individuals and families in Newfoundland and Labrador who experience food insecurity to get the nourishment they need.
