Disability isn’t inability; it’s the perception that needs to change📖 This International Day of PWDs, let’s break the chains of discrimination and open doors to inclusivity. A disability doesn’t define a person; it’s society’s responsibility to remove barriers and celebrate abilities. Together, we can build a world where diversity is celebrated, opportunities are equal, and everyone is empowered to thrive. Let’s turn understanding into action and make inclusion the norm, not the exception🌟 #boltayhuroof #inclusivitymatters #accessibilityforall #Worlddisabilitiesday #pwds #removebarriers

The 17th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP17) focused on the topic of ‘Rethinking disability inclusion in the current international juncture and ahead of the Summit of the Future’ — and it’s a conversation we can’t have soon enough. The Conference focused on three main points: 1️⃣ International cooperation to promote technological innovations and transfer for an inclusive future 2️⃣ Persons with disabilities in situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies 3️⃣ Promoting the rights of persons with disabilities to decent work and sustainable livelihood. COSP17 was a critical time for Australian leaders to step up onto the global stage and reflect on the progress we’ve made for disability inclusion while also advocating for further resources, support, and improvement. According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, one in six Australians has a disability. This means we NEED to be world leaders in disability inclusion — that’s the bottom line. I’m eager to hear from every leader and hope we continue having discussions where we matter and where we’re represented. #2024DisabilityEmpowerment #COSP17 #UN

🇧🇩🇧🇩 Today, in the climate-impacted, remote char of Kalasona in Gaibandha district, members of a Disability Self-Help Group (SHG) are participating in income-generation training focused on making paper bags. This initiative is a vital step in building skills and resilience for SHG members—individuals with disabilities and their families—enabling them to contribute to the socioeconomic development of their families, communities, and the nation. Organized by Friendship Disability Inclusion Program (FDIP), this training reflects our commitment to enhancing the rights and opportunities of persons with disabilities through the Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) approach of the World Health Organization (WHO). It is a key element of the ‘Empowerment’ component of CBR, paving the way toward a more inclusive and self-sustaining community. It is contributing to SDG 8! In this video, the trainer is demonstrating paper bag making to a woman with disability. #Empowerment #Inclusion #DisabilityRights #CommunityDevelopment #Bangladesh #FDIP #CBR #WHO #disabilityinclusion #IGA #capacitybuilding #SHG #skilldevelopment #SDG8 #friendshipngo

This International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPwD) on December 3rd, #ManpowerGroup organised insightful training sessions facilitated by the Australian Disability Network. The sessions, titled Disability Confident Managers and Disability Confident Workforces, delved into crucial topics like Inclusive Communication, Inclusive Access, Inclusive Recruitment, and Inclusive Attitudes. Embracing the social model of disability, which acknowledges that societal barriers hinder full inclusion, the Australian Disability Network are championing the cause to challenge and dismantle these obstacles. They aim to pave the way for accessible and inclusive workplaces by challenging existing norms and promoting a culture of inclusivity. As we commemorate IDPwD, let's stand together to break down these barriers and advocate for workplaces that are not just accessible but truly inclusive. We can all help to #RemoveBarriers and #FosterInclusion, supporting the cause of Disability Awareness and promoting a culture of #ChooseInclusion. #IDPwD #ChooseInclusion #RemoveBarriers #FosterInclusion #DisabilityAwareness
