Bridging the Gap: Education to Engagement

Time is ticking away. By midnight tonight PST, June 5th nonprofits can register for Earth Gives Day 2024 and have their registration fee waived. This is our way of celebrating YOU and your important work on #WorldEnvironmentDay #nonprofits working in #climate #climatejustice and the #environment can be showcased on the platform for the 26 day long giving initiative. (And for recurring gifts onward.) Earth Gives Day is the 1st US-wide giving day focused on climate change. We must boost eco philanthropy beyond 2%. More importantly, we need to recruit volunteers to expand our work and welcome people to the collective work needed. (501c3s or fiscally-sponsored groups qualify.) So it's no surprise that a father-daughter duo's love for their own #SanDiego community led to the formation @zerowastesandiego. That was back in 2006 and by the next year, the group was an official nonprofit formalizing its work on #recycling and #zerowaste. Educating people on #reduce #repair and #repurpose became a key focus. The group has diverted thousands of pounds of waste from the landfills. Fix-it clinics and symposiums have been critical to expanding the reuse mindset beyond this passionate volunteer group. @ZerowasteSD is part of the #EarthGivesDay initiative - matching YOU with these people-powered groups across the United States.
