Systemically it is important to create an environment that ultimately CFT is more powerful way of working . A Good seasoned CFT leader , taking requisite stakeholders along , across APQP cycle from the initial stage is the key (mostly CFT leader from R&D makes sense , if it is Automotive Tier system ). Ironically, many a time, in India, the importance and effectiveness of the Project Management with QCD accountability (Strong matrix organization) is not fully appreciated as every one tend to see their own KRA / Department KRA / KPI more focused way and the CFT team work is left to goodwill account and it is not driven with business goal in a focused way. Only a good Top management can realise the importance and allocate resources to see the effective transition of product to production mode in a systematic way,that happens with CFT led by professionally empowered project managers to reduce business loss and opportunity loss and not to blame that there is no team work happening. The way the performance appraisal system is prevailing until now , has to be revamped to get more focus / weightage for the CFT contribution than purely on individual's accomplishment, in my view , after having 3 decade Automotive Tier-I experiences including great MNCs, myself.
