Meet Laura Bleakney, Director of Swanlund HR at Illinois Human Resources! Learn more about Laura in the Q&A below. #RealizingHRProfessionals 1. What brings you the most fulfillment as an HR professional? Honestly, it’s the thrill of reading yet another creative way to say "good at multitasking" on a résumé. I feel sorry for individuals who actually contend that HR personnel basically exist to serve tea or coffee at events, to decorate rangoli for workplace gatherings, or for fun Fridays. A while ago, an employee walked towards me and stated, "Hey, the coffee beans haven't been in the machine for quite some time, please ensure that it remain there in the machine Following that, I wondered, had I gotten my MBA only to assure that coffee beans had to be contained in the machine?" And I got the answer be a minute is that HR team of any organization strives to keep their "Talents" satisfied and happy at workplace despite the fact that their problem doesn't even pertain to HR department," However, people ought to keep in consideration that there are also considerably more crucial grants which relies solely on HR, therefore HR doesn't exist merely to ensure coffee beans has to be present in the machine or making rangoli or plan fun Fridays. P.s. - Human Resources is the most selfless job to perform, despite how dejected HR personnel may feel in their life, they have to put beaming face in presence of their employees and be optimistic so that they will not lose their trust on organization. #HRmostselflessjob #HRandnotonlyeventmanager #HRworksbeyondthericapacity #LinkedIN

Trust me! We, HR Managers do a lot more than rangolis :') We're living in 2024 and people still think that rangolis and decorating the office is the only important thing HRs do. That's not even 1% of our job description! On some days, we are a guide to people lost in their jobs. On the other days, we act as their therapists. We play the role of administration between employees and companies. Make sure to validate your leaves in front of your boss. We handle harassment cases with care and confidentiality. Just like candidates face rejections, we face rejections from our MOST PREFERRED candidates too! It's always challenging to manage people. I've faced the most strange situations sitting in an interview. If you consider Sales, Finance, and other managerial departments important, remember that Human Resources deserves its position right there All we want is for you and every other employee to STAY SATISFIED and feel heard in the company! Send this to your HR and make them smile :)

Everyday Human Resource Management : EMPLOYMENT PROMOTION A job-promotion is when an employer moves a worker up in the hierarchical levels within an organization. A promotion typically allows a worker to progress to a higher position, a higher level of responsibility and higher levels of authority within the organization. Being promoted offers a higher corporate title, enhanced compensation, respect from your peers and the acknowledgment of doing a great job and exceeding expectations. It will hurt and upset an employee when they are asked to execute and perform certain tasks that are not in their job-description's scope of works - which they (the management) know that the worker is fully competent and capable of doing. A job-promotion is not only based on the applicant's professional experience for the job, but also leadership and human skills! #humanresourcemanagement #performancemanagement #leadership #teamspirit #jobpromotion #employmentpromotion Brenda Maximin Roger Nicholas Janelle Thompson Robert de Gannes Dr. Janice Brooks Rajiv Sundaraneedi Lisa Pamponette Andre Bruce Essiba Small Jody White Amanda Dattoo Safraz Mohammed

STAFFING: Finding staff in the restaurant business is tough enough and then you have to retain them. Well here are a few tips in retention. 1) Competitive Pay- Track salaries and hourly wages on such sites as LinkedIn and Zip Recruiter to compare what restaurants and companies are paying there staff members on all levels. Also conduct regular reviews to adjust wages based on performance and market standards. I have had the experience that someone will leave for .50 cents more an hour. Don't let that happen! 2) Benefits and Perks- For some people it not all about the money, it's about having a balanced life. Benefits such as health insurance or a stipend towards health insurance, paid time off, shift meals or family meals, opportunities for advancement, and offering the same days off every week so your staff can plan what they want to do ahead of time ( this also cuts down on time they request off, which helps in scheduling and makes them very happy). 3) Positive Work Environment- Foster a positive and inclusive work culture where employees feel valued, respected, and supported. Encourage teamwork, open communication, and provide opportunities for feedback. 4) Training and Development- Invest in cross-training staff in various ways to enhance their skills, knowledge and keep it interesting. 5) Recognition- Recognize employees for their hard work and contributions through verbal praise and performance bonuses. Celebrate milestones and achievements as a team. 6) Clear Expectations- Communicate clear expectations regarding job responsibilities, performance standards, and goals. Provide constructive criticism to help employees improve. 7) Exit Interviews- Conduct exit interviews with departing staff members to understand their reasons for leaving and identify areas for improvement. Use this feedback to make necessary changes and prevent future turnover. By implementing these strategies, you can create a supportive and rewarding work environment that encourages staff retention in the restaurant business. #RestaurantStaffing #EmployeeRetention #RestaurantIndustry #StaffDevelopment #WorkCulture fredneuville.com

🍷 Cheers to a Night of Fun and HR Inspiration! 🍷 Last night’s Virtual Wine Mixer was everything we hoped for—engaging, insightful, and just the right amount of “unwinding after hours.” To everyone who joined, poured a glass, and shared their thoughts, thank you for making it such a fantastic experience! Highlights included: 🥂 Learning the art of wine swirling (shoutout to Roger Beery from J. Cage Cellars for turning us all into sommeliers-in-training). 💬 Laughing at workplace clichés like “per my last email” and “circle back” while toasting to HR positivity. 🏆 Epic trivia battles (because who doesn’t love a good raffle and a little competition?). ❤️ Honest conversations about the challenges HR pros face—and how UKG is here to lighten the load. As we sipped our way through Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, one thing became clear: HR professionals deserve moments like this. Whether it’s about elevating employee experiences or simply savoring a glass of wine, we’re here to support you every step of the way. Huge thanks to Julie Develin, SHRM-SCP, GTML for dropping wisdom (and some great moments of laughter) and to everyone who brought their energy and expertise to the table. 🍷 If you missed this one, don’t worry—we’ll have more events like this soon. Until then, here’s to great wine, great company, and even greater HR solutions. 👉 What’s your favorite wine or go-to workplace cliché? Let’s keep the conversation going in the comments!
