7 years ago, I made a decision that completely changed my career trajectory. During campus placements, I got placed in a consulting firm. The joining date for which was 6 months away. While I really wanted to take that time off, visit home and go on a trip, something nudged me to explore internships instead. I stumbled into a marketing role and decided to join for the next few months. I wouldn't lie but I had no idea what it was going to be about but it turned out to be something that I loved going to work for. Six months later, the consulting job was waiting. I let myself be convinced by the common wisdom—consulting pays well, makes you travel places, and lets you work with top-tier companies. I took the job. It didn’t take long for me to realize something was missing so I made a bold move to switch back.  Was it the ‘right’ decision? I’ll never know. But I do know I love what I do now and if I get a chance to go back in time, I will choose marketing again. It is almost that time of the year again and I am looking forward to hiring a few marketing interns to work closely with on some of the most exciting projects. I hired my first intern back in December 2023 With a working contract of 3 months  but she is now working with me for over a year All my plans failed. I never thought someone would work this well remotely. There is always a doubt whether the other person is actually working, especially when your work is remote. But you can find a good intern who is really dedicated to their work and can get you good results. Here’s how I hire an intern: → I never judge them through their skills, I only see their interest in learning a skill and their dedication towards the work. → It's always better to hire a person with a good character than with a good skill because skill can be taught but character you can’t. → Always have more options, take interviews with more than 5 people, and never be in a hurry to hire, give them time and understand their work ethic. Till date I have hired more than 3 people for my work, and from them only 1 has stood out and is still there working with me and delivering good results for my client. P.S.
