Our Ambassador Ardi Stoios-Braken and Australian Embassy in the Netherlands' Ambassador Greg French yesterday evening facilitated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Australian company ASPIRE's CEO Cameron McKenzie and Dutch company Excess Materials Exchange (EME)'s CEO Christian van Maaren. This partnership marks a significant step forward in our shared commitment to advancing circular economy practices and fostering sustainable innovations. Aspire and EME both run a digital platform that facilitates the exchange of materials and resources between companies. Through this partnership, they bring together their expertise in reuse of materials and products and resource efficiency to develop groundbreaking solutions that will benefit both our nations and the planet. Super timely launch this week of The Aotearoa Circle and Chapman Tripp's latest report: "Protecting #NewZealand's Competitive Advantage", coinciding with the return from Auckland University of Technology's mid-semester break and a topical insertion into today's lecture on #Sustainable #SupplyChains and #Procurement. The headline that "...80% of New Zealand's exports by value [are] going to markets that have mandatory #ESG #reporting in force or proposed" is sure to be a conversation starter for #students and #businesses alike. Huge kudos to the Chapman Tripp team that sifted through both the rapidly evolving global #regulatory environment as well as the ever-fulsome #trade agreements. It's pretty clear that as it has for some time been unacceptable for businesses to export #HealthAndSafety risks to geographies with lower regulatory standards, reducing domestic #environmental standards is a false economy in the global marketplace that we operate.
