Here are some fun facts about the manufacturing of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey: * The Lincoln County Process: Jack Daniel's undergoes a unique filtration process called "charcoal mellowing" or "The Lincoln County Process." This involves slowly filtering the whiskey through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal, which removes impurities and contributes to its distinctive smoothness. * Cave Spring Water: The water used in the production of Jack Daniel's comes from a natural spring located on the distillery grounds. This cool, iron-free water is believed to contribute to the whiskey's smooth taste. * New Charred Oak Barrels: Jack Daniel's is aged exclusively in new, charred American white oak barrels. The charring process creates a layer of charcoal inside the barrel, which imparts flavors of vanilla, caramel, and spice to the whiskey. * Master Distillers: There have only been seven Master Distillers in the history of Jack Daniel's, a testament to the company's commitment to tradition and quality. The current Master Distiller is Jeff Arnett, who has been with the company since 1990. * No Sales in Lynchburg: Due to a local prohibition law enacted in the late 19th century, Jack Daniel's cannot be sold within the town of Lynchburg, Tennessee.
