Reduce carbon = sustainable event, right? ✅ Wrong ❌ Sustainability goes beyond just making events "less bad". Events are opportunities to be creative and influence more good. These were the message that stuck in our panel at Event Sustainability Live yesterday, exploring "Sustainability for All: Inclusive, Fair and Affordable Solutions for Every Budget". It can feel daunting when you're new to sustainability, especially if you don't have huge budgets available. Plus, we're told expensive technology to measure is what we need. But - our carbon tunnel vision means we miss other opportunities to make our events sustainable. Events are an amazing way to inspire attendees and stakeholders to do better, to inform them and spark positive change. How your event can be a creative catalyst for doing good?💡 How can you explore a new way of doing things? 💡 How can you shift perspectives?💡 E.g. ↳ you could serve a brand new plant based meats for guests to try. ↳ you could partner with a social enterprise to extend your impact. It's about crafting experiences that not only entertain but also educate and inspire attendees and stakeholders to embrace sustainable practices.. i.e. doing more good! Thanks to the panelist - it was so great to get into this discussion with Camilla Marcus-Dew - PIEMA - Reframing 'Business' 🌈 an utter power house social entrepreneur (how does she sleep?), and Iga Prokopowicz championing sustainability in events across the world with Legacy Events. Of course, as always, Elizabeth Corse was the best chair, challenging us, while ensuring we stayed relevant.
