RedSTART Educate is one of the latest charities to receive a grant from The Quilter Foundation's Local Community Fund. It's a charity focused on delivering financial education to primary-school children. Their CEO, Sarah Marks, said: "We are delighted to receive a donation from The Quilter Foundation’s Local Community Fund to support our work to deliver and evaluate a scalable financial education programme for socially and economically disadvantaged children in primary schools across the UK. We plan to show that teaching kids about money at this formative age, especially to those most at risk of financial difficulties, it is possible to impact their lifelong financial habits, prospects and well-being and help avoid them being trapped in a cycle of generational poverty. This support will bring us a step closer to achieving our mission to close the charity down in 2030 when financial literacy will be on the national curriculum and the blueprint we have proposed has been adopted nationwide. Last year we conducted local Vital Signs research to understand our community's most pressing needs. The need for "Sustaining Community Infrastructure" is one of the focus areas that emerged. The public and private sectors are currently faced with the need to repair and replace aging infrastructure - the need is also apparent for the nonprofit sector. However, while building and equipment is crucial to the operations of any organization, nonprofit organizations often find it challenging to secure funding to address these crucial needs. In alignment with this research, we also provide support to charitable organizations whose programs address the Vital Signs focus areas, including those affected by aging infrastructure. Three exciting grant opportunities for certain IL nonprofits: (1) Support West. The Chicago Blackhawks Foundation has launched the third cycle of this program to support minority owned small businesses on the West Side by providing $5,000 grants through the Support West program. (2) Diamond Impact Awards. Chicago White Sox Charities is now accepting letters of intent for its first-ever 2025 Diamond Impact Awards. The new awards are intended to support project-specific work at Chicago-based qualified non-profit organizations that align with CWSC's core areas of giving: Cancer support services, child abuse prevention, health and wellness, and youth education. (3) Healing Illinois. The program (a collaboration of The Field Foundation of Illinois and IL Dep't of Human Resources) is designed to distribute $4.5 million in grants to organizations across the state to begin or continue the work of racial healing.

Presidential election years are routinely difficult for nonprofits as giving transitions to donating to political campaigns. Additionally, as corporate giving and individual giving has slowed, operating costs have risen, yet demand for services has continued to increase in most direct service nonprofits, we are at a crossroads and facing increasingly difficult choices. And MN nonprofits make up a significant percentage of Minnesota’s workforce and provide many imperative services for our community. “Nonprofits — from small food shelves and theaters to massive health care organizations — make up about 14% of Minnesota’s workforce, according to state data. They employ about 370,000 workers, down from a record 391,000 employees in 2019. Many of those organizations fill gaps in government services, whether it’s mental health help or food assistance, and are part of building the civic fabric of the state, Aanestad said.” If you have capacity to give - even $5 - it DOES make a difference to your local nonprofit.

#SERACS Ltd is pleased to announce the establishment of our corporate foundation, #SERACS_Foundation. Since 2009, we have been extending support to churches and pastors on an ad hoc basis under the main organization - SERACS Ltd. However, in 2023, we took a significant step by formally incorporating the Foundation. This move has enabled us to establish a separate entity that will now focus on managing our community support initiatives such as donations, charitable works, and capacity-building trainings. The Foundation’s philosophy revolves around people, with a mission to empower and strengthen Christian churches and ministries. We achieve this by offering donations of Bibles, financial assistance, training, and other essential supports to pastors, ministers, priests, and church leaders not only within our project areas but also across PNG. Our primary vision is to catalyze positive transformations in people's lives through our programs, donations, training, and charitable endeavors. These efforts are anchored in four fundamental pillars: #Spiritual_Enhancement, #Partnership_Development, #Community_Support, and #Capacity_Development_and_Training.

We began giving out equity grants 3 years ago to address the underfunding of BIPOC-led nonprofits. Equity grants are mission-based, unrestricted grants ranging from $10,000 - $15,000 awarded to local nonprofits led by Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC). BIPOC-led nonprofits are often the closest and best suited to address the needs of their community, but also receive only a fraction of the funding available to the nonprofit sector.
