“The world URGENTLY needs to CHANGE the way it PRODUCES AND CONSUMES FOOD. In the coming decades, the global agricultural system must find ways to meet pressing but sometimes competing needs,” according to the ASEAN Guidelines on Sustainable Agriculture adopted by member nations in October 2022. Agriculture is in Southeast Asia’s DNA. However, several problems afflict this sector. The ASEAN Guidelines on Sustainable Agriculture are therefore designed to: 💡 underscore the IMPORTANCE and RELEVANCE of new sustainable and CIRCULAR AGRICULTURE policies, 💡 provide a TRANSITION MECHANISM where policies can be translated into STRATEGIES and then turned into PRACTICAL IMPLEMENTATION PLANS, 💡 guide and promote STRATEGIES in SUSTAINABLE CIRCULAR AGRICULTURE, 💡 provide EXAMPLES of HOW TO DEVELOP agricultural sustainability, and 💡 encourage STAKEHOLDERS to INTEGRATE SUSTAINABILITY in their OPERATIONS and SUPPORT the DEVELOPMENT of sustainable and circular agriculture industries. The guidelines also cite the experiences of #thailand (Bio-Circular-Green economic model) and #europe (European Green Deal) in switching to more sustainable agriculture to provide insights for ASEAN countries. See you next week RFSI Excited to be hosting the Innovation Pitch session on Day 1. Don't miss it! It was tough choosing and honestly I did ask Sarah Day Levesque if we could have 10 pitches. Food systems are complex but incredibly collaborative, there are no silver bullets but we need an ecosystem of innovators to accelerate this change to regenerative food system. Never the less, we have decided on 4 innovators. Nicolas Enjalbert from SeedLinked - Decentralised seed breeding platform, with thousands of growers using it, reviewed over 3000+ varitities for performance and taste. Michael Cully from Susterre - pioneering the use of ultra-high pressure water jets in row crop planting applications. The technology promotes regenerative practices like no-till farming and cover crops on a permanent basis. Cate Havstad-Casad from Range Revolution - The world’s first regenerative leather luggage and handbag company. Built bottom up supply chain for regenerative leather. Stopping over 5m hides going to waste. Rusty Hinges Ranch (Rooted) Rebuilding local food systems, with regenerative whole meal boxes direct to family homes. Leveraging nutrient density measurements and match with individual needs. https://lnkd.in/eed8pk_V

-Empowering Indonesia's Future Through a Digital Food Ecosystem- In today's rapidly evolving digital age, the integration of technology into our food ecosystem is not just an innovation—it's a necessity. A robust digital food ecosystem holds the promise of transforming agriculture, enhancing food security, and promoting better health for Indonesia's future generations. By leveraging advanced technologies, we can ensure efficient farming practices, reduce food waste, and improve the distribution of nutritious food across the nation. Digital solutions enable farmers to access real-time data, optimize their yields, and connect directly with markets, thus increasing their productivity and income. Moreover, a digital food ecosystem supports transparency and traceability, ensuring that the food on our tables is safe and of the highest quality. With better access to healthy and sustainable food options, we can address malnutrition and foster a healthier, more resilient population. Ready or not, we will embrace the power of digital transformation in our agribusiness sector to build a healthier, more prosperous Indonesia. The future is digital, and it's in our hands to shape it.
