We were at the social fair organised by @ayuntamientomarbella to give visibility to all the organisations that work to improve the lives of those most in need. It fills our hearts to see so many young people involved and asking about everything we do at @casaglobalgift by participating in the tests we propose to them, such as the inclusive roulette. All the @casaglobalgift programmes are possible thanks to its founder @mariarbravo, to your collaboration with donations and to the support of companies and entrepreneurs who are supportive and committed to our project such as @zazoumarbella @mamzelmarbella and @notablumarbella Thank you to @miuc_university for giving us their parking lot so that families can have easier access to our centre. Thank you @ayuntamientomarbella for subsidising part of the current expenses of @casaglobalgift Thank you all very much! ❤️🏡❤️

JMB Consulting sharing deep insight again. I've been thinking about the 'capture' of radical language alot this year. Did you know the term intersectionality was originally coined to highlight how our opressions and struggles are deeply intertwined? In 'professional' settings it's often used to discuss inclusion but actually intersectionality isn't about indivualism or isolated intersecting identities. It's about the pursuit of collective liberation. Too often the term is co-opted to promote identity politics and inclusion in ways that on the service might look great but ultimately serve to uphold the very systems of exploitation and violence we aim to dismantle. Lately, I’ve been thinking about how tools like non-violent communication can also perpetuate this problem. What happens when these frameworks ignore the colonisation of radical terms? Can we really call it “non-violent” when we take the language of liberation and use (inadvertently) it to uphold systems of harm? For clarity, I count myself amongst the 'we' here and this post is as much as call in for myself as it is an invitation to join me in this thinking. As Ruha Benjamin powerfully reminds us: “Black faces in high places won’t save us.” and neither will radical language without radical action. Book Rec: Elite Capture by Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò
The third sector has a history of taking the language of grassroots organisers, stripping it of all meaning, and then misusing it in their empty statements. Let’s learn about the radical roots of words like “solidarity” rather than turning them into empty charity jargon. This article is genuinely SO brilliant and get straight to the heart of some of my deep frustrations with the third sector - they steal our words and make them meaningless. This is a MUST READ on the performance of solidarity in the third sector!

We’re less than two weeks away from #GivingTuesday! In 2023, Giving Tuesday generated $3.1 billion in donations across the United States. As we approach the end of the year, this day is an incredible opportunity for organizations to drive the support they need to make a lasting impact. 💡 We recently published an article highlighting strategies from our top users on how to maximize engagement. The formula is simple: when you pair a powerful cause with effective messaging, all you need to do is equip supporters with the language to share it with their networks. Just a few dozen shares can generate additional funds and expand your reach to other like-minded folks. We've seen plenty of campaigns around that try to educate young people about #sextortion but how effective are they? Not very, say teenagers who describe existing campaigns as "looking like they'd been designed by old people trying to be young." Working with Fearless Scotland, these young people have developed a series of recommendations for charities & organisations to follow, including using #language young people understand, fast-paced messaging & avoiding relying on fear. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eeGbx4ex Co-creation is incredibly important to DRAGON+ with young people being consulted every step of the way to make sure that our resources not only reflect their experiences but also talk to them on their level. You can read more about how co-creation was used during the development of DRAGON-Shield in our "Developing and Evaluating DRAGON-Shield" report: https://lnkd.in/eRh-pujC

I'm getting major 'healthy and sustainable' fatigue. It certainly is what we (science, research, charities, NGOs etc) all want and are aiming for. But it's not what a wider public audience want to hear. It's such an unattractive phrase that I'm not sure it belongs in public outbound messaging. Keep it in your reports, but keep it out of your public messaging. Consider using words that Trump supporters would use to describe success - especially if you want to break out of your echo chamber.
