How did we do? Explore some of our 2024 achievements – in collaboration with our partners and thanks to the support of our donors – in our Impact Report.👇 Earlier this year we shared our 2023-2024 Impact Report, which includes our highlights in four important areas: ✅ Introducing #SafeAndJust science ✅ Moving people to demand action ✅ Incentivizing economic actors ✅ Demonstrating to upscale. As we move forward with a new strategy, we look forward to working closely with our partners to mobilize citizens, companies, cities and countries to continue this work in accelerating systems change, and becoming better guardians of the global commons. 👉 Read the report: https://lnkd.in/eACAnvA8

📙🎉 We have just published our 2023/24 Impact Report. Explore the interactive report to learn about some of our achievements undertaken in collaboration with our partners, including: 👇 📈 Introducing #SafeAndJust science: Science is the foundational cornerstone of the Global Commons Alliance. Explore our work on peer-reviewed science, global media coverage, convening, and influencing decision-making. ✊ Moving people to demand action: An informed public can take meaningful action by advocating for change, voting for change - either at the ballot box, with their wallets, or by raising their voices to demand it - as well as by implementing changes in their own communities. Read about our work around media and marketing, and understanding the public's attitudes to change. 🎯 Incentivizing economic actors: Our economic systems have exploited the #GlobalCommons bringing them to breaking point. We need to radically transform these economic systems, which reward short term profits from commodity production based on unsustainable practices that deplete natural capital. Learn about our work with targets having an impact, holding companies accountable, expert analyses, and more. Thank you to all of our donors, supporters and partners. GCA appreciates all of the donors who have made and continue to make our work possible. 👉Read the report: https://lnkd.in/eQpTgh3W #EarthSystemBoundaries #SafeAndJust #ImpactReport #Impact #ForNature #NatureAction #ClimateAction #SustainableDevelopment

Sir Ronald Cohen has shared that the International Advisory Board for Social Innovation of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research has released their Vision for 30 Billion by 2030 STRUCTURE: Seven levers for an innovative economy and society. This builds on the "National Strategy for Social Innovation and Social Enterprises" [1] adopted by the German government in September 2023 and aims to inspire Germany to develop into a "Social Impact Republic". This means that social innovations will become more prevalent in business, politics, science and society. Private wealth has been slow to value the role social benefit plays in investments to date. The seven levers offer the opportunity to realise the billion-euro potential of social innovations with a manageable amount of funding, with the possibility of generating added value of € 30 billion by 2030.
Big step forward for impact in Europe! German government impact advisory board’s 7 levers to generate €30BN of value. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/dZDYDsyG #socialimpact #scale

Are you interested in accelerating the adoption of a new behaviour? How can behavioural science help? 🆕 From purchasing new technology to adopting more sustainable travel habits, behaviour change is required regularly in modern life. In our latest article published in Impact’s e-magazine, we detail how two behavioural science concepts can utilise knowledge of social norms to squeeze the adoption curve and speed up behaviour change adoption. The two concepts we highlight are: - 👀 Make new behaviours visible Did you know that the main driver of solar panel uptake is being within 200m of another house with solar panels? More visible solar panels in your neighbourhood increases the likelihood of you also getting them. ☀️ - 💰Reframe prices to indicate the social norm Adding a plastic bag surcharge has drastically reduced their usage in the UK as it presents not using a plastic bag as the norm. 🛍️ This article is packed with ways to convert these fascinating insights into action - it is a must-read for anyone looking for new techniques to speed up large-scale behavioural change. If you are interested in how we could help you accelerate the adoption of a new behaviour or product, get in touch! Give it a read and share your thoughts below! ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eQJ6Ki55 #behaviouralscience #consumerinsight #socialnorms

Image by @loeyfelipe In the panel discussions at the Summit of the Future, the importance of securing proper funding to address the urgent global challenges of #Sustainability was emphasized. Our latest publication explores how reconnecting finance with the real economy can build resilient communities capable of facing global challenges. The current financial architecture often prioritizes high-income nations, leaving others behind. We therefore need a bottom-up approach that: - Empowers local communities - Incorporates integrated environmental resource management - Reduces wealth inequality I believe that these changes are necessary and together we can create a financial system that truly supports #SustainableDevelopment for all. ✍ "What sets this approach apart is its potential to integrate human and societal dimensions. By including factors like energy consumption and land use, #DigitalTwins 🌏 🌐 provide a more holistic view of the #Earth system. This ensures predictions are aligned with real-world complexities, offering actionable insights for decision-makers", writes our colleague Fernando Iglesias-Suarez in our latest blog post. We are thrilled to be leading a session at the Association for Public Policy Analysis & Management Fall Research Conference next week!💡 In recent years, we’ve seen increased momentum and interest around principles of Next Generation Evidence in government. However, many federal, state, and local agencies have met barriers when implementing these principles. Drawing from our book 📖 “Next Generation Evidence: Strategies for More Equitable Social Impact,” our featured speakers – representing federal, state, and local government perspectives – will explore how policymakers can shift toward Next Generation practices to attain stronger, more equitable outcomes. Some questions we look forward to exploring together include: -How can policymakers ensure equity is embedded in evidence-building processes? -What practical steps can be taken to ensure government agencies are intentionally elevating the voice of their community members? -What role can federal, state, and local agencies play in fostering a climate where failure is accepted and evidence-building is prioritized? If you’ll be at #2024APPAM, we hope you’ll join us! In the meantime, you can learn more from the authors leading our session by downloading your free copy of “Next Generation Evidence” here: https://lnkd.in/eKAQ5P4C
