Global Tube Fabrications’ Post

Welding Wonders of the World Designed by William Lamb and his architectural firm, Shreve, Lamb & Harmon, the project was funded by The Empire State, Incorporated, under the leadership of Al Smith and backed by investors John Raskob and Louis Kaufman. Construction kicked off in March 1930 and was completed by April 1931. Despite the dangerous working conditions, with two reported fatalities, this monumental structure was erected during the Great Depression, a time when many were desperate for work. Utilising newly developed welding techniques, the Empire State Building stands as a feat of engineering and one of the first great structures made using welding—a true Welding Wonder of the World. At Global Tube Fabrications, we take pride in being part of this rich tradition that has shaped the world we live in.
