The Military Brat Defence Academy (MBDA) is an educational institution that is often associated with the upbringing of children in military families, often referred to as "military brats." These children typically grow up in environments where discipline, respect, and a sense of duty are emphasized. While specific information about MBDA may vary depending on the location, the concept generally focuses on providing specialized education and training for students who are part of military families, preparing them for a future in defense-related professions or other fields requiring leadership and commitment. Key features of such academies often include: 1. Discipline and Structure: Reflecting the military ethos, MBDA provides a structured environment with a strong emphasis on discipline, punctuality, and responsibility. 2. Leadership Development: The academy aims to nurture leadership qualities in students, preparing them for roles in the military or other service-oriented careers. 3. Curriculum: The curriculum typically includes a mix of traditional academic subjects alongside specialized programs in physical fitness, survival skills, military history, and tactical training. 4. Physical Fitness: A significant focus is placed on physical fitness, teamwork, and resilience, which are key aspects of military life. 5. Character Building: In addition to academics, MBDA emphasizes moral values such as integrity, honor, and selflessness, key principles for students who may eventually serve in the armed forces. <Partnering with Learners' Families> I'm honoured this morning to meet up with parents of the 59th cohort of Basic Specialisation Course 1, to articulaye to them how we conduct training here in the Naval Military Experts Institute, and clear anydoubts that they may have on the Navy and naval training. One of the most important aspects of running a schoolhouse and courses, is a strong partnership between the school and the families of our learners. This is even more important for military training, and for national service training. Parents and families of our young sailors must be given the opportunity to understand the training and environment that their child are going through, and provide a strong support system at home. In this way, our learners can reaffirm their commitment to defence even at home, regenerate adequately before they return back for (more) training. This is not unique to the military. Even the preschool centre that my 3-year-old kid goes to engages us as parents fairly frequently, even on weekends. Such engagement sessions reassures parents of the learning environment that our children are in, and reinforces learning even at home. I have come to realise that fostering a strong partnership with our learners is a critical component of enforcing seamless education. The strong purpose behind why we conduct Family Engagement Programmes like this, continues to drive educators like us to seek the strong partnership with the families of our learners. #nsss #fep

A colleague recently mentioned that Instructional Design as a discipline traces its roots back to World War II. This piqued my interest, as I had the privilege of working in a role where exploring archives and picture repositories was part of my everyday work. So, I dove in and discovered some training manuals and job aids that could be considered part of the first-ever instructional design materials. (Definitely exaggerating) During WWII, thousands of soldiers—many without military or engineering backgrounds—needed to be trained quickly. In response, the US Navy, War, and Air Force Departments created job aids to support the new recruits. These guides ranged from highly technical manuals to posters designed to help laymen identify aircraft or naval vessels from a distance. It is fascinating to know that such small steps as creating workbooks and show-and-tell cards laid the foundation for how we approach knowledge transfer today. What were once wartime necessities have now become the building blocks of modern instructional design, changing not just military training but how knowledge is shared across industries and disciplines. #InstructionalDesign #WWII

👉BIG changes to how we develop our #Airmen: The United States Air Force introduced a new set of instructions and policies under DAFI 36-2685, Total Force Enlisted Developmental Education, Oct. 9. The changes are part of an ongoing effort to streamline and modernize Total Force enlisted development following the separation of DAFI 36-2670, Total Force Development, into more specialized instructions. The new policy: • Formalizes a structured continuum that connects base-level professional development to Enlisted Professional Military Education, providing a more cohesive framework for enlisted career progression. • Establishes installation development centers as the designated host for Enlisted Foundations Courses, delivering timely and relevant content to Total Force Airmen. • Clarifies the roles and responsibilities of development advisors, previously known as career assistance advisors, particularly in overseeing the Informed Decision Program, First Term Enlisted Course and Foundations Courses. This publication marks a critical evolution in the development and education of enlisted Airmen and Guardians, aimed at better preparing them for leadership roles while maintaining flexibility in their career progression.
