Children perform better in school when their families are interested in their education. Children perform better in school when they have good attendance. Children perform better in school when their caregivers talk to their teachers and advocate for their needs. Children perform better in school when their caregivers read with them at home. And yet, such involvement is often a challenge for parents and caregivers who are juggling multiple jobs and navigating language and cultural barriers. So, here's to the donors committed to helping schools and families overcome those barriers, which is critical to the pandemic learning-loss puzzle. #Education #Literacy #StudentSuccess #FamilyEngagement

Standing Firm for the Future of Our Children In a world where the early years of childhood lay the foundation for lifelong success, it is not only our responsibility but our moral duty to stand up for the rights and well-being of every child. Important: At this moment, the following programs are actively advocating for the Cincinnati, Ohio community. You can support their efforts by making a donation. Much like the struggles of past generations who fought for justice and equality, today, we must be vigilant in our pursuit of educational equity for all children, regardless of their background. The fight for quality early childhood education is the fight for a brighter, more equitable future. "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." These words, written from a place of deep conviction and sacrifice, resonate now as they did decades ago. We cannot afford to be silent or passive in the face of inequity. We must actively engage, educate, and advocate for policies that ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive. Let this be our call to action. Let us channel our passion, our expertise, and our collective voices into ensuring that all children receive the early education they deserve. Let us stand together, as allies and advocates, in the ongoing battle for justice in education. Website: https://lnkd.in/dCD_4eTJ Join us in this crucial work. Together, we can make a difference. #EducationForAll #Advocacy #EarlyChildhoodEducation #EquityInEducation #4cforchildren #chatgptpt #chatgpt

Sue is loading up her car trunk once again for a journey to deliver Highlights for Children, National Wildlife Federation Zoobooks and other children’s magazines from the MagLiteracy.org Magazine Literacy Bank to rural schools in southeast Ohio counties, where only a third of children are proficient on state reading tests. Supplying reading materials to classrooms and libraries in high-poverty areas, where school reading scores are low, has immense value in fostering literacy, engagement, and educational equity. Most families in poverty have zero books at home. With consumer and publisher support, who donate their valuable magazines to the Magazine Literacy Bank, we are getting vital reading materials into classrooms, libraries, hands and homes, changing so many lives for good. With titles for every age, enthusiasm, professional aspiration, and language, magazines are the most powerful literacy engines on earth. Share the literacy ❤️ #reading is where everything begins. #consumers, #newsstands and #publishers #recycle #print #magazines for #literacy to end #poverty of the mind, heart, and pocket. https://lnkd.in/evvfti6r

Celebrating Literacy Champions: The Unsung Heroes Shaping Our Future Today, I want to celebrate and honor the literacy advocates—teachers, specialists, and administrators—who wake up every day not only to teach students how to read but also to see the potential in every student. Today, we honor their resilience, dedication, and impact, especially as they navigate various challenges. Despite the unprecedented impact of the pandemic, including unfinished learning, budget cuts, teacher shortages, and the devastating shadow of school shootings, these champions remain steadfast. Their work isn't just about teaching students to read—it's about unlocking futures, creating opportunities, and ensuring every child has a voice through literacy. I ask that each of us pause to reflect on their courage and commitment. We see you, we value you, and we stand with you. Here are five ways we can support our community of our courageous literacy advocates: 1. Advocate for Adequate Funding: Support local initiatives for better school funding to ensure that literacy programs are fully supported and resourced. 2. Ask a Teacher: Want to ensure that your support is truly impactful? Contact a teacher directly and ask them what they need to help their students succeed. If you don’t know a teacher personally, start with the principal—principal and teacher emails can usually be found on the district’s website. Tailoring your support to their needs maximizes its effectiveness. 3. Donate Supplies or Time: Schools and teachers are often stretched thin. Donating books, classroom supplies, or even your time by volunteering for literacy programs can help ease the burden. 4. Champion Mental Health Support: Teachers and school staff face regular emotional stress. Advocating for mental health resources and school services ensures that these advocates are cared for, too. 5. Raise Awareness: Use your platform to amplify the stories of educators and literacy specialists. Sharing their challenges and triumphs can inspire community action and support. Together, we can ensure these literacy advocates have the resources and support they need to build a brighter future for our children. 💡 How are you supporting the literacy advocates in your community? #LiteracyMatters #EducationHeroes #TeacherAppreciation #SupportOurEducators #CommunityImpact

The Florida Family Literacy Initiative, a program of the Florida Literacy Coalition with support from the Kislak Family Foundation, provides funding to help Florida schools and educational programs to establish or expand upon family literacy programs in their communities. Nonprofit organizations or government-based agencies (such as school districts and state or community colleges) that provide adult ESL or family literacy instruction via classes, small groups, or one-to-one tutoring are eligible to apply. For grant purposes, family literacy programs should include the following three components: 1) adult basic education and literacy or English as a second language skills training for parents or caregivers, 2) age-appropriate educational activities for children, and 3) interactive literacy activities between parents and children.Call 516.410.4895, or email clolataylor@gmail.com for a free fee quote to have us write your entire proposal, or edit your draft, for a reasonable flat fee. https://lnkd.in/eJHNFQRS Bev Browning Holly Rustick

"I have previously written an article on the importance of parental involvement in a child’s education. However, in the current climate, where many students are learning from home, I feel it is vital to reiterate the significance of parents taking an active role in their child’s education. It is not enough to rely solely on teachers to provide education; parents must also be involved. There are many ways for parents to get involved, including attending parent-teacher conferences, volunteering at school, helping with homework, and having regular communication with teachers. By working together, parents and teachers can create successful partnerships that contribute to a child’s academic and social development." #ParentalInvolvement #AcademicSuccess #ParentTeacherPartnerships #VolunteerAtSchool #HomeworkHelp #RegularCommunication #ChildDevelopment #EducationStrategies #FamilyEngagement #SchoolSuccess #SupportiveParents #StudentGrowth #PositiveSchoolEnvironment #TeacherCollaboration #MexitNews

As we're approaching the end of the academic year, I've seen more teachers post online that they're leaving the classroom to pursue different options. Given that I left education in 2022, I wanted to share some insights on why teachers, specifically in Florida, are motivated to leave. Check out this blog post on why #Floridateachers are resigning and aren't being replaced quick enough. #teachersquitting #educationreform #floridateachers #resignations #teacherprobs #quittingteaching #quittingeducation

Empowering Almajiri Children: A Step Towards Building a Better Future and society. The future of any society rests in the hands of its children, and when we invest in their education, we unlock limitless potential for growth and transformation. Educating Almajiri children is not just an act of compassion; it is a moral obligation and a strategic investment in our collective progress. Almajiri children, often marginalized and left to fend for themselves on the streets, have the same innate genius and potential as any other child. By taking them off the streets and giving them access to quality education, we break the cycle of poverty and vulnerability that has trapped them for generations. Education gives them the knowledge and skills they need to dream bigger, aspire higher, and contribute meaningfully to their communities and beyond. By educating Almajiri children, we are nurturing a generation of thinkers, innovators and leaders. They become productive members of society who drive economic growth, foster positive change and uplift those around them. Their empowerment is a catalyst for social cohesion and national development, as they become individuals who respect diversity, promote peace and protect human rights. Getting them off the streets restores their dignity, protects them from exploitation, and gives them hope for a better future. This demonstrates our commitment to creating an inclusive society where no child is left behind, regardless of their background or situation. The ripple effect of educating Almajiri children is profound: families are empowered, communities are transformed, and nations are strengthened. Together, we champion this cause with unwavering determination, because every child educated today is a seed of greatness planted for tomorrow. At CESi we invest in their dreams, nurture their potential, and watch them blossom into architects of a brighter and more equal future.
