🚀 My Backstage Journey - Discovering Managed Backstage with Roadie! 🚀 My Backstage journey has reached another exciting point where I’ve discovered the Managed Backstage offering by Roadie, an official partner of Backstage. Instead of diving into the complexities of self-hosted solutions, this option eliminates the maintenance burden while providing a fully production-ready instance. 🙌 Here’s what I’ve learned: ✅ No need for React or Node expertise—set up all integrations and plugins through an easy-to-use UI. ✅ Automatic updates and fewer people required to maintain your Developer Portal! ✅ Ideal for scale-ups who want simplicity and less overhead. Of course, there’s a trade-off—managed solutions offer less flexibility compared to self-hosted options. But if you're looking to scale without worrying about infrastructure, this could be the perfect solution! Big Applause to the Roadie team(David Tuite) for all the effort you’ve put into coming up with Managed Backstage! 🎉 #DeveloperExperience #Backstage #ManagedBackstage #TechJourney #Roadie #DevOps #PlatformEngineering #Roadie

Crafting the Future of Music: My Journey at Astrotwig As I reflect on my tenure as Lead Backend Engineer at Astrotwig (Astrotwig (Microsoft for Startups)), I'm humbled by the opportunity to have been a part of such an innovative and impactful team. Our collective dedication to pushing the boundaries of technology has enabled us to create a platform that redefines the music industry. Leading the backend development team, I've had the privilege of shaping our architectural foundation and mentoring a talented group of engineers. Together, we've navigated complex challenges, leveraging the efficiency and scalability of GoLang to deliver a robust and reliable platform. Throughout my journey, I've learned the invaluable lessons of collaboration, resilience, and innovation. The synergy of diverse perspectives has fueled our creativity, while our ability to adapt to challenges has strengthened our resolve. Embracing experimentation and calculated risks has been the driving force behind our continuous growth. Astrotwig is more than just a platform; it's a catalyst for change. Our technology empowers independent artists to reach new heights, fostering a community where creativity and passion converge. In my software engineering journey, a crucial lesson emerged from challenging experiences, emphasizing the significance of observability. I have encountered persistent issues that traditional debugging methods couldn't unravel. Despite rewriting both front-end and back-end code, the core problem persisted. Simultaneously, as I have transitioned technologies, my focus on observability has always proved instrumental. Observability has become the key to solving an unexpected issue affecting users' experience. It never has been about the latest tech, but about building the capability to gain end-to-end insights. The takeaway for fellow software engineers is clear: in the face of complex issues, prioritize observability. When production issues arise, time-box the investigation. If a solution remains elusive, introduce logging systematically. The process may start with a hunch, but it propels you toward uncovering the truth. In the journey of software engineering, embracing observability has been a fundamental feature that crafts precision for me. Strive for the truth behind issues, one log at a time. 👀 #observability #softwareengineering #simple #tech #debugging Context:

🚀 Excited to share our Plugged-in Music Journey! 🎶 We were given a stakeholders with a problem: (QUICK DEMO LINKED) 💡 Problem: Discoverability is a challenge for both emerging artists seeking new fans and music enthusiasts looking for fresh experiences. 💡 Solution: We developed a Spotify/Tinder hybrid, enabling users to swipe through a Tinder-like interface to discover new music. In just 4 weeks: 🔨 Built a full-stack application using Next.js, TypeScript, TailwindCSS, Supabase, S3 Buckets, and PostgreSQL. 🤝 Collaborated closely with stakeholders, meeting weekly to adjust plans based on feedback. ⚡ Employed agile decision-making tactics like planning poker, team manifesto, daily standups/retros, and a 'disagree and commit' mindset. 📊 Utilised Git branching, pull reviews, Trello, and Kanban ticketing for efficient project management. 👥 I Played a full-stack role, from crafting and refining the front-end UI to creating APIs, handling data retrieval, and establishing seamless front-end-backend connections. 🔍 Presented our product in front of various School of Code affiliated companies, receiving positive feedback on presentation smoothness and professionalism. 🔍 Reflection: While aiming for testing (TDD), we recognised the trade-off between time constraints and project scope. Opting for a smaller challenge might have allowed us to include testing, but we prioritised delivering value to stakeholders. 🌟 Thanks to: - Stakeholders: Nathan and Nasa - School of Code: Chris Meah, 💘 Tom Pauley, Catherine Butler, Andy Jones, Anna-Marie Moss, Victoria Meah, Becks Maybury and all the other SOC staff. - My Team: James Hearn, Mohamedamin Abdille, Elizabeth S., Mugheesa Ahmed - Mentor: Andrew Fitzpatrick - Special Mentions: Nadeem Shabir, Siôn W., Anjali Ruth Muthusamy, Hannah Mitchell, Matthew Newnham-Wheatley, Filipe Proença and all those that came to watch us on Demo Day! :D #FullStackDevelopment #AgileDevelopment #MusicTech #TechInnovation #SoCFinalProject #Teamwork #DiscoverNewMusic

buildspace #Week3 update A hectic week, but managed to find some time to make changes to the website. I am working on Chymes, a platform that curates a Spotify playlist for you and adds it to your account based on your local weather conditions. 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴: 1. 𝘔𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘣𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴 2. 𝘈𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘥𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 3. Fixing them one by one right now, hoping to get them down by next week. The Beta testing for Chymes is currently open, so if you are interested, comment down or DM. I manually have to add users, so only beta testers will have access to website features. cc: buildspace Farza Majeed #nightsandweekends #s5 #buildspace
