How does a web developer become a game developer? I am and always have been a gamer and one of the big reasons I got into software engineering in the first place was to eventually become a game developer. I'd love to hear how other web developers became game developers! What were your favorite tutorials or ways to learn? What was your biggest struggle going from web to game dev? One day I'd love to work for a company like Bethesda Game Studios, Electronic Arts (EA), BioWare, or another incredible game dev team! Fallout 3 was my first major RPG, followed by Dragon Age and Mass Effect. These games defined my love for RPGs and continue to be some of my favorite games. On the opposite side of the gaming spectrum The Sims has been such a huge part of my life. It would be such a dream to work on a game that shapes a new generation of gamers ✨ #gaming #webdeveloper #gamedeveloper #womeninstem #gamer #softwareengineering #womenintech #videogames #bethesda #ea #bioware #webdevtogamedev

🎮 so you want to make games? So you want to make games? Buckle up, because you’re in for a wild ride! 🎢 First, forget everything you know about sleep—because coding bugs at 3 AM is basically a rite of passage. 🕒 And those dreams of being the next big thing? Get ready to spend hours tweaking that one tiny pixel just so it looks perfect. But here’s the real secret: despite the late nights, the chai ☕️ addiction, and endless debugging, nothing beats the feeling when someone plays your game and has a blast. 😎 So, if you’re ready to turn your ideas into playable art and possibly lose your mind in the process, welcome to the club! 🎉 Game on, future devs! 🚀🎮 #gamedev #gamedesign

I’m back in the game. Thrilled to announce the launch of "456 Guys" - the worlds first 456 player game! Available today on PC, Mac, Mobile & Web - link in the comments. Give it a play and LMK what you think! Created by Canterbury Christ Church University graduates Adam Felton & Ryan Horney What’s this all about? I’ve been quietly working on a blazingly fast and super simple approach to #multiplayer to solve some key industry problems: 🫵 Democratising high-performance real-time 3D #multiplayer => Any Gameplay Coder can use this effectively, no specialists needed ⏱️ Eliminating porting & SDK maintenance => 25% reduction in Dev time, instantly live on all platforms, eliminating so much drudge work 💰 Low Bandwidth & Compute overhead => Order of magnitude reduction in hosting costs (80-90%) 🍿 Massive player count => Enabling entirely new genres of games (up to 2000 players ATM) Now working to open the platform up to #Unity devs in 2025 & open-sourcing the full game on #GitHub Special thanks to Andrew Allison for his incredible generosity and support in getting this off the ground 🎄 Merry Christmas 🎄 (📈 DM me if you're interested in becoming a Pre-Seed investor) 456 Guys Promo Video >>>> https://lnkd.in/eEt8VKAF

Hi guys! 📱 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸, 𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘶𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘖𝘚 𝘪𝘯 𝘟𝘤𝘰𝘥𝘦. 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘭𝘭. So this is how the 𝑫𝑨𝒀 2 looks like 👨🏻💻: On the second day of my "Memory Game" project, I've focused on enhancing the user interface and game logic. I introduced labels to display player names and scores on the screen. Additionally, I improved the visual feedback for player turns, with text color changes (to red) indicating whose turn it is. I've also optimized the tile flipping mechanism, allowing only two tiles to be flipped at a time and if the player tries to flip more than two tiles at a time, nothing flips. This ensures smoother gameplay and better user experience. Stay tuned for further updates as I continue refining this project! #iosdevelopment #swiftprogramming #gamedevelopment #mobileappdevelopment #uikit

Do any other UK game devs work in the Bitsy engine? Its a free browser based app that allows you to make quick and easy 1-bit games that export to HTML 5. Great for making short gamejam games that can be easily distributed. In my experience, it lets me realize ideas quickly enough before getting bored or frustrated. Here’s a video of my first play about with the system. I’ll be sharing some other things I’ve made soon and might be tempted to do some tutorials if anybody is interested. Cheers! #GameDev #Bitsy

Ever wondered how to become a #GameDeveloper? How the title 'Game Developer' is actually an umbrella title for many internal disciplines, but at the same time the actual title for many indie developers is much broader (because you have to do much more in a smaller team). Check out this amazing Game Developer Roadmap 2024 web app from Roadmap.sh which will give you an idea of the different specialisms needed to be a Games Developer. https://lnkd.in/eGnpJ9p6 #GamesDevSU #GamesDev #Games #Education #ReadMap #Career #GamesIndustry #Education #University #College #GamesProgramming

Exciting news! I've been working on a new project that combines two of my favorite things: React JS and gaming. I've created a Tetris game that you can play right from your browser. It's been a blast working on this indie game development project and I can't wait to share it with everyone. #ReactJS #GameDevelopment #Tetris #ReactTetris #WebDevelopment #JavaScript #IndieGameDev

🙋♀️Hey there! I'm a budding game developer with a flair for crafting engaging and entertaining experiences. Throughout my course, I've had the opportunity to design and develop several classic games, each showcasing different aspects of my skills and creativity🎇. One of my projects involved recreating the iconic T-Rex game, where players navigate obstacles in a minimalist yet addictive environment. Additionally, I've crafted a version of the classic "Cross the Road" game, infusing it with modern twists and challenges to keep players hooked. Furthermore, I delved into the realm of arcade classics with a rendition of the timeless Pong game, exploring elements of physics and player interaction to enhance the gameplay experience. And let's not forget about the beloved plumber's adventures – I've also embarked on the journey of creating a Mario-inspired game, complete with vibrant worlds, challenging levels, and plenty of nostalgic fun. These projects have not only honed my technical skills in game development but have also ignited my passion for creating immersive and enjoyable gaming experiences✨. #Skill #Gamedevelopment #Coding #project
