💡 A volunteer’s gains 💡 This weekend, I had the privilege of participating in an incredible community event supported by Beyond Social Services. Themed "Healthy You & Me”, the ground-up event is aimed at tackling rising food costs and improving access to healthy diet choices for vulnerable families. The highlight? 👩🍳 A cooking competition. The key ingredients? Instant noodles and a generous amount of community spirit! Outcome? Healthy meals can be created by adding a bit of “this and that”! 🍜 🥒 🥚 The event wasn’t just about the cooking competition. My learnings 💡 ? 🥳. Opportunity X Courage X Hope: 5 ladies courageously stepped out of their comfort zone to show their craft to familiar and strange faces. Feeling stressed before and during the competition, all now have an experience to be on-stage and speaking in public. 🤹♀️ 💃 🔔 I am inspired by their courage. Overcoming a challenge regardless of scale always add to our life experiences for our next opportunities. 🥳 Community kinship: residents stepped out of their rental flats to support neighbours. S17 Community Kitchen (https://lnkd.in/gg6qHeeZ) opened their space to support the event and corporate entities such as Ninja Shark sponsored home appliance as prizes (aptly fit the theme). Young and young-at-heart volunteers assumed various roles came together and be ignited by the energy of the community leaders and youth emcees. It brought laughter, relaxation and warmth for those who were present. 😍 🔔 I am inspired by organizers' creative programming. It met the needs of the beneficiaries where they are. Free buffet offered a kampung eating feast. Through educational quizzes, audience learned important facts & trends and could choose their choice of food ingredients from the contestant’s food inventory. Minimise food wastage! It is a lifelong journey for me to role model after many kindred & passionate individuals. How can we contribute to the growth and well-being of ourselves and others? Whether big or small, every action counts. Together, we can make a difference. 🌱 #HealthYouAndMe #CommunityWellbeing #FoodSecurity #HealthyChoices #CollectiveWisdom #LocalHeroes #CommunityEngagement #ShareYourRecipes #TogetherWeCan

Your annual Thanksgiving Reminder 🦃 As we gather around tables filled with delicious food and cherished company, let's remember this fundamental truth: the joy of a shared meal extends beyond just eating together. Food is for everyone. Meal planning is for everyone. Meal preparation is for everyone. And cleanup is for everyone too! #Thanksgiving isn't just about the feast - it's about the collective effort that makes it possible. From planning the menu to washing the last dish, every piece of domestic labor, every individual task is an opportunity to contribute to our shared experience. Food is about #community. Let's honor that by treating meal preparation and cleanup as the communal acts they are. Many hands make light work, and equitable distribution of labor strengthens our bonds, reduces resentment, builds skills, and can even spread more joy. #SharedResponsibility #FairPlay #DivisionOfLabor #DomesticLabor

The passion and dedication our team pours into every single day that we open our doors is incredible, but it's not always glamorous. Behind the scenes at our pay-it-forward café and community hub, there are days when things don’t go as planned. This past Saturday was busy. We faced a sudden influx of guests, with our dining room at full capacity and more people arriving. Our kitchen staff scrambled, prepping meals faster than ever, while our front-of-house team managed the rush with calm and compassion. And yet, accidents happen and a tray full of eggs landed on the floor. Instead of losing momentum, the team pivoted. They worked together to clean up the mess all while making sure our guests experience wasn't impacted. And they did it with laughter and smiles on their faces. The mood in the dining room never changed. Volunteers jumped in to help out, and one of our regular guests was out there helping us spread kindness, sharing an extra button so someone else could have a meal. It’s moments like these that remind me: the work we do at 541 Eatery & Exchange is so much more than serving food. It’s about community, resilience, and caring for one another. The messy, unpredictable days are often the most meaningful. I couldn’t be prouder of our team! #PayItForward #NonProfitLeadership #CommunityFirst #KindnessInAction #GratefulLeadership #SocialEnterprise

As professionals in the water industry, we know that public perception is crucial to our success. Unfortunately, its that last water main break or high bill that sticks in their minds. However, there’s always room to improve and engage with our communities in more meaningful ways. One way to get on the public’s good side is by making our interactions more fun and relatable. Imagine hosting community events, sharing fun facts about water (did you know it takes 20 gallons of water to produce one pint of beer?), or even creating engaging social media content that highlights the importance of water in our daily lives. With Thanksgiving around the corner, it’s the perfect time to remind everyone of the vital role water plays in our holiday celebrations. From brining the turkey to making delicious pies, clean water is an essential ingredient in our Thanksgiving feasts. So I asked your friendly neighborhood AI to create a fun water industry commercial for Thanksgiving…and here’s the resulting script. [Scene: A bustling kitchen filled with family members preparing a Thanksgiving feast. The camera zooms in on a turkey being placed in the oven.] Narrator (cheerfully): Thanksgiving! A time for family, food, and… water? [Cut to various scenes: washing vegetables, boiling potatoes, making gravy, and someone drinking a glass of water.] Narrator: That’s right! From washing the veggies to making the gravy, nothing happens without water. [Scene: A family member accidentally drops the turkey, and it slides across the floor. Everyone gasps.] Narrator (chuckling): And let’s not forget the cleanup! [Cut to a family member frantically scrubbing the floor, then another scene of someone washing dishes.] Narrator: Water is there for every step of the way. [Scene: The family sits down to a beautifully set table, ready to dig in. Suddenly, someone takes a bite and makes a funny face.] Narrator: But sometimes, things don’t go as planned… [Cut to a family member running to the bathroom, looking distressed.] Narrator (laughing): And water is there for that too! [Scene: The family is now laughing and enjoying their meal together.] Narrator: This Thanksgiving, let’s give thanks to the unsung hero of the holiday – water! [Cut to the water utility logo with a tagline.] Narrator: “Your water utility name” – making every holiday possible, one drop at a time.

I was having a really enlightening conversation with someone the other day about our mission at KidsMenus to make mealtime fun and elevate the family dining experience. He's been in the hospitality industry for decades and he said "yeah, unfortunately, a lot of operators don't fix something unless it's broken. So if they didn't have a kids activity placemat before, they don't see the point of going through the effort to get one now." For a second that made sense, but then it really didn't. And this is why - there IS something broken with the hospitality industry. It's the amount of effort and care put toward the family dining experience. An entire quarter of the human population is children. 80% of the world's population is families. About 50% are parents who have had a poor experience eating out with our kids. We all eat out and want to experience hospitality. We all deserve to. Read that again. 👆 Something is broken, so let's fix it. We CAN do better. I genuinely believe that and am relentless on my mission to help others make a positive impact with very low effort. If you're in the hospitality industry and want to be part of the change that makes families feel welcomed, let's partner and do something good together. #hospitality #familyhospitality #familydining #restaurantmarketing #hotelloyalty
