"Do what you love” sounds great… until the event industry shuts down overnight. When the pandemic hit, passion wasn’t enough to keep Snapbar afloat. Sure, we built Snapbar on a love of creativity and live experiences. But in March 2020, our calendar went blank, and passion was no longer a factor for a hot minute. Here’s what turned things around: - We pivoted fast—turning from IRL (photo booths) to URL (virtual event gift boxes & experiences) in a matter of weeks. - We focused on fixing client problems instead of clinging to our original vision. - We got flexible, letting the market dictate our next move, not our passion. In the events world, loving what you do IS important. (In fact, events are kind of brutal at times and I'd almost discourage anyone from getting into events without a passion for them...) And yet, adapting to the unexpected trumps passion every time. Don’t build a career or business on passion alone—build it on a willingness to stick with it and pivot if/when the game changes.

Are you planning events with Gen Z in mind? Get it wrong and you’ll pay the price. Gen Z doesn't consume content. They participate in it. They don't follow brands. They co-create with them. Fail to consider this. And be prepared to alienate your next generation of consumers, fans or employees. If you get it right. You can expect an army of loyal fans who are willing to champion you every step of the way. Here’s what you need to consider… ⤷ Is it Instagrammable? If it ain’t worth sharing, forget it. ⤷ Gen Z cares deeply about causes—incorporate meaningful initiatives. ⤷ Consider gamification—Fun and competitive elements boost engagement. ⤷ Jam-packed, content-heavy agendas are out. Networking and collaboration are in! ⤷ Work-life balance is a must—Respect their time and include leisure activities. ⤷ Rethink how content can be consumed—Quick, visually appealing elements are key to capturing attention. Factor these into your event strategy, and you’ll be sure to plan an event that resonates with this generation. P.S. Repost ♻️ to help others reach Gen Z at their events.

It’s time to face the truth. The old event playbook is dead and buried! 📉 ... The event industry has been steered for a VERY LONG time by a generation who says they’re committed to change but often fail to act until their attendance plummets, revenues nosedive, and programs are shelved. After diving into the Freeman Company Trends Report Q4 2024, one thing is crystal clear: values are shifting as Gen Z now outnumbers Boomers in the workforce. This demographic shift isn’t just a statistic; it’s going to reshape the event landscape as we know it with Millennials and Gen Z making up 75% of the workforce composition by 2030. It’s time to reimagine how we treat events. Think about the most thrilling experiences—concerts, sporting events, amusement parks. What do they all have in common? They understand how to engage their audience before, during, and after the experience. Here’s my favorite takeaway from the report, something I emphasize to our clients daily: “It’s time to redesign your approach to ensure your events aren’t just attended—they’re anticipated. Because soon, only the must-go events will survive. The tools for designing must-go events are here. Now it’s up to you to use them.” Ask yourself: Are your events merely a checkbox on the calendar, or are they experiences that your audience can’t wait to attend? How will you create that buzz? This is about more than just logistics; it’s about crafting unforgettable experiences that connect with today’s audience. The tools are at our fingertips—and its now on event professionals and organizers to embrace a bold, innovative future for events. Download your own copy of the report here:

If your #conference attendees don't look this excited, maybe you're inviting the wrong #speakers! ;) Here are some of our topics that we've been talking about around the U.S.: · Building your internal culture and breaking down silos while building your brand · Attracting younger members by connecting your brand with your values and mission · Moving from attracting rate hoppers to attracting loyal members · Decreasing delinquencies and showing ROI for financial wellness and community initiatives · Remaining relevant in the growing pool of competitors by leading with the values and initiatives that make you different Ok, so the picture may be a slight exaggeration, but give us a shout! We'd love to speak at your in-person or virtual events!
