There are many excellent summaries of the benefits of volunteering, including the below from Indeed In certain instances, there are lots of volunteers, and it's actually the organizations themselves that don't feel equipped to handle volunteers, finding themselves overwhelmed with the admin side despite there being a good fit At Communal we provide software to help coordinate volunteers so that organizations and individuals can both get the benefit they deserve https://lnkd.in/gdY8i-G4

📢 Free, Early Bird 'Big Help Out' Support offer - posting to my consultancy page first 📢 Thank you for following my business page. I know there's an awful lot of content on LinkedIn and that your time is precious. I'm still working with NCVO to support voluntary organisations to get the most out of The Big Help Out campaign this year - focusing on new volunteer recruitment. Through this, I have capacity to provide free, bespoke consultancy support for a number of groups ready to make a commitment to be involved and keen to make the most of the campaign. This offer will go live and public over the next 1-2 weeks but I'm here to offer you priority boarding. Here's the offer - contact me directly if you'd like to explore further: 💪 Free Consultancy Support to get Big Help Out ready 💪 Across the country volunteer-involving organisations are getting ready for The Big Help Out weekend, taking place from 7-9 June at the end of Volunteers' Week. If you wish to use the campaign to encourage new local volunteers to come forward and support your cause, and would welcome some support to plan and implement your activities, help is available through NCVO: - It could be that you would like to host a flagship, light touch volunteering event to give those new to volunteering a great first experience with you; - Maybe you want to develop a flexible 'action' that individuals or groups can undertake in their own time, whilst still making a difference for your cause; - Or perhaps you just want to ensure your volunteering opportunities are advertised on the Big Help Out digital platform as well as your own site - that your roles get extra visibility in the national 'shop window'. If you'd like to explore any of the above, have something else in mind or would simply welcome a direct link into the national campaign and its partners, contact Gethyn Williams for details: gethyn.williams@ncvo.org.uk.

Volunteering keeps so many communities ticking. For this International Volunteer Day, we sat down with Lara Owens, CFCS, CRCM, Enterprise Risk Management Specialist at EarnIn, and chatted about her volunteer work with young children and how that community has improved her life both personally and professionally. Where do you volunteer and what keeps you motivated? I volunteer at our local school during the summer months through the non-profit my husband and I created, Future Community Leaders. What motivates me is seeing a child light up with wonder and curiosity because they’ve experienced something new and can see that the world is bigger than their immediate surroundings. How has volunteering impacted you? Through volunteering, I have learned to always be curious. As we grow up we lose some of our wonder and become quick to form opinions. Children do not have those biases yet. They are accepting of everyone until they are taught not to be. They can teach us all to be more loving and accepting. Are there any skills you’ve gained through volunteering that have helped you at EarnIn? I’ve learned to be vulnerable. Children are unfiltered and honest, and they tell you exactly what they think. Being open to their perspectives is critical to connecting with them. This has also taught me to be vulnerable with my ideas and open to feedback from my colleagues. I value their perspectives and appreciate that EarnIn fosters an environment of curiosity. Has your volunteering impacted the communities EarnIn serves? The volunteer work I do helps young minds dream beyond their current circumstances. My hope is that they experience something that inspires them to focus their life in a positive direction. This is similar to what we do at EarnIn for our Community Members. They come to us for help meeting their financial needs so that they can begin to consider the possibility of living more. If you’re looking to make an impact with Lara and the rest of the team at EarnIn, check out our careers page for more info on available openings: https://bit.ly/48iksmZ
