Blueprint for More and Better Housing, published by an independent Task Force for Housing and Climate is in the link below. The Task Force is led by Hon. Lisa Raitt and Don Iveson, ICD.D alongside respected voices including Tsering Yangki , Mark Carney, Jennifer Keesmaat and others. It’s recommendations are for governments at all levels, Federal, Provincial and Municipal to provide low cost, long term fixed rate financing for affordable housing, including student residences; attract more skilled trades as part of our immigration strategy; reform taxes to incentivize purpose built rental homes; speed up and scale up development and encourage density with changes to policies including more permissive land use, update zoning laws, pre-approved designs, revise and harmonize permit rules and regulations to make it simpler and faster for developers and trades to build. There are also proposals to protect areas that are at higher risk of climate impacts including flooding and wildfires, and engagement and consultation with First Nations. This is a welcome report providing a way forward to allow us to deliver more, more affordable and low carbon homes for our growing population. https://lnkd.in/gGyHfhyM
