Did you know that in 2006, we led our first EU-funded project PENTA/EACS which studied how HIV affects pregnant people and their babies? It also assessed the safety of HIV treatment, tracked how HIV is passed from mother to child and examined the health of children exposed to HIV. Want to know what it takes to manage complex projects? Michele Gardini, one of our project managers, shares insights into his role and how he helps drive our projects to completion. Today, on World AIDs Day, let’s pause to honor the strength and resilience of those living with HIV, remember the lives we have lost, acknowledge the progress we’ve made and also reflect on the work that remains. Ending HIV is not just about science or medicine; it’s also about compassion, equity, and justice. It’s about breaking down barriers like stigma, discrimination, and silence that still prevent too many from seeking comprehensive care. Together, we have the power to change the course of history, we can eradicate new HIV infections and ensure everyone living with HIV thrive and stay undetectable. #WorldAIDSDay2024 #EndingHIV #16DaysOfActivism

Today is Zero HIV Stigma Day. Despite all the advances in clinical care, we know that for people living with HIV, life can be difficult because of the stigma associated with HIV. Fast Track Cities London has been working on three key areas to tackle stigma - internalised or self-stigma, stigma in the NHS and other public services and stigma in society. 🌍✨ World AIDS Day: Together for Action and Awareness ✨🌍 World AIDS Day is a day to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and honor those lost to the disease. This year's theme, "Equalise," highlights the need for equitable access to prevention, treatment, and care. In South Africa, where HIV remains a major public health challenge, we must continue efforts in education, stigma reduction, and advocacy. Each of us has a role in creating a supportive environment for those affected by HIV. Let’s commit to: Educating ourselves and others about HIV transmission and prevention. Supporting organisations that provide resources and care for those living with HIV. Advocating for policies that ensure equitable access to healthcare for everyone. Together, we can make a difference. Let’s work towards a future where everyone has access to the care they need and stigma is a thing of the past. #WorldAIDSDay #HIVAIDS #Equalize #HealthcareForAll #Pharma #LifeSciences

#XtendFoundation, HIV stigmatization can take many forms, including but not limited to rejection by family and community, ostracism, and refusal to engage in social interactions. It can also be internalized, such as guilt, shame, or fear of abuse. This can lead to feelings of depression, shame, and hurt. HIV stigmatization can affect the treatment and care-seeking behaviors of PLHIV.
