Prompt: “Create an image in the style of Rembrandt, depicting children at play within an urban environment. The scene should evoke a sense of timelessness, with the interplay of light and shadow characteristic of Rembrandt’s chiaroscuro technique, illuminating the children’s expressions and the texture of the surrounding cityscape. The urban setting should subtly blend modernity with classic elements, allowing the energy of the children’s play to stand in contrast with the stillness of the architecture.” Simplistic Version: image may sway. “Create a Rembrandt style image of children playing in a modern urban environment.”

Imagine creating something so Iconic, that it becomes a city’s identity. Imagine creating architecture that can capture the imagination of millions of people around the world. IM Pei was one of the most famous and celebrated architects of his time. But did you know he developed weapons for the United States during World War II? Or that his firm had such a huge disaster that they did not build anything in the US for 7 whole years? Even the famous Louvre Pyramid, turned the entire city against him. This is one of the most interesting tales you have ever heard. DO checkout my latest documentary on the life & designs of I M Pei https://lnkd.in/gy9U2gPi

When investing in classic designs you need to understand the time they were created in. With this documentary series we want to give some insight into the importance of our classic designers and the designs we reissue.
A documentary series: When Modern became Modern. The first documentary in the series explores the post-war social conscience that defined the 20th century and investigates a moment in time that brought new ideas to the forefront, signifying the reformation of intellectual and artistic movements. Narrated by design historian Emanuele Quinz, we uncover the stories of figures that left a lasting impression on the fabric of contemporary design. _____ Built on a foundation of Danish heritage, at the heart of &Tradition lies a curiosity towards the craftsmanship and creative legacies of classic designers. For over 10 years, we have worked closely with the families and foundations of iconic designers to uncover and preserve their original designs in their most authentic form. Artist and urbanist Johanna Hoffman, who studied landscape architecture at University of California at Berkeley, calls for partnering with communities to visualize “new and potential worlds.” This world-making can help “move us beyond what currently exists into what could one day be.” She is inspired by the creative fields of “art, film, fiction, and industrial design” and how they use “speculation to provoke, imagine, and dream into what lies ahead.” The book outlines novel engagement approaches that enable communities to dream big and make vision reality. 📗 Discover Speculative Futures: Design Approaches to Navigate Change, Foster Resilience, and Co-Create the Cities We Need and other Best Books of 2024 in ASLA's THE DIRT: https://lnkd.in/eb2b8bhc Image Credit: Speculative Futures: Design Approaches to Navigate Change, Foster Resilience, and Co-Create the Cities We Need / North Atlantic Books, 2024

I often recommend linking and studying the contributions of Aldo Rossi, with typo morphology in particular: urban designers need to understand urban form in the context of the perception of the environment and the cognition linked to urban space for informed urban design. https://lnkd.in/enVSiTeY

Natural Light is one of the most important elements in architecture, as it has the ability to transform the way a space looks and feels. For the 5th grade's project "the light", we talked about the role of natural light in building design since ancient times. We analyzed the light as a symbol, how the space is transformed and the power of light to affected our emotions. When the students set the scene, all groups created wonderful gothic vitraux taken through history, religion and fairy tales!
