📊 Exciting breakthrough in thyroid disorder diagnosis and treatment! 🧬 A recent study has demonstrated the potential of using genetics to establish personalized thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) reference ranges. This approach could be a game-changer in how we diagnose and treat thyroid disorders. Key findings: Genetic factors are major determinants of an individual's TSH setpoint. Personalized TSH ranges differ significantly from population-based ranges. This innovative approach has the potential to: ✅ Improve accuracy in thyroid disorder diagnosis ✅ Prevent overtreatment and associated side effects ✅ Enhance patient outcomes and quality of life While challenges remain in implementation, this personalized approach represents a significant step towards more precise and effective thyroid care. What are your thoughts on this development? How might it impact your practice or patient care? #ThyroidHealth #PersonalizedMedicine #Endocrinology #HealthcareInnovation #Thyroid #TSH American Thyroid Association, Inc. We understand the importance of equipping providers with the most in-depth knowledge, so they can help patients make informed decisions about their health. Our Chromosomal Microarray Analysis (CMA) can help healthcare providers identify chromosomal deletions and duplications in the genome. This analysis aids in diagnosing individuals with multiple anomalies that are not specific to well-delineated genetic syndromes, like non-syndromic developmental delay, intellectual disability, or autism spectrum disorders, as advised by ACMG - American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics. Excited to share our recent paper exploring the effect of genetics and antipsychotic treatment on metabolic syndrome in #schizophrenia using real-world EHR data from the Estonian Biobank ✨ https://lnkd.in/dsMZEHKy In short, we found that SCZ patients exhibited higher genetic predisposition to SCZ (OR = 1.75), and lower polygenic burden for high BMI (OR = 0.88) and C-reactive protein levels (OR = 0.88) compared to controls. However, SCZ cases also had a higher rate of metabolic syndrome (HR 1.95) driven by both antipsychotic medication use and genetic predisposition to higher BMI. REALMENT EU Project
